'Black Eyes And Bleeding Lips', chapter 3

We sat in that field for hours. School would be over in a half-hour. We knew if we ddn't leave soon we would have to stay there for at least three more hours. That was how long it would usually take to make sure no one was about.
"So what about your parents?" I asked Mike.
"They're dead," he said plainly. He started to look upset.
"Hey, it's okay, I'm so sorry," I apologised.
"Don't worry about it. It was a year ago, I can talk about now," He explained.
"Well, if you don't mind me asking, what happened?" I asked Mike.
"Umm...we were burnt out. These people my brother were involved in, well he owed them money, and, he didn't pay them," He said.
"That's terrible," I said.
"Yeah, I hate him, he's ruined my life," Mike said.
"But now I live with my drunken aunt who is always away, so it's only half bad," Mike tried to laugh it off.
"So, do you wanna go over to my place?" He said, in a nervous way.
"Yeah sure," I answered. We picked up our bags and walked over to Mike's. He didn't live too far away from me.
"My aunt has gone away for two weeks on a gambling holiday with her stupid friends," Mike stated. We arrived at Mike's house just as school would have been finishing. Mike pulled a key from the pocket on the inside of his jacket. We walked into the living room and offered to take my bag for me. I let him and he put it next to his in the porch. He came back in and switched on the TV. He sat down.
"You know, you can sit down," Mike said.
"Oh, yeah, sorry," I laughed, sitting down.
"So what music do you like?" Mike asked me. He put on Kerrang.
"This sort of stuff," I said pointing to TV, It was Funeral For A Friend's 'Roses For The Dead'.
"This song could have been the story to my life if you hadn't of come into them toilets today," I said. He listened to the lyrics and then agreed with me. What really stood out to me in this song were the lines: 'Just to say we're sorry, for the black eyes and bleeding lips'
