When Daddy's A Rockstar..., chapter 6

That night was our last night in London and the night of the Green Day concert. Joey, Stella, Ramona, Jakob and I watched on from side stage. When the show was over a very sweaty, tired but happy looking group of punk rockers ran towards us. We cheered them. Joey and Jakob helped their Dad cool off by pouring a bucket of water over him. We were all a little hyper and so suggested that we make a night out of our last night in London.

We went to a restaurant to eat. We had a great time; I had forgotten how much fun it was to have my Dad around. We decided to continue the night back at the hotel because we had started to gain stares from fans and had started to gather small crowds.

When we got back we all headed up to Tre's suite. Things were getting pretty funny when Tre decided to go out on the balcony and, as he put it, serenade the passers by singing 'dominated love slave' at the top of his lungs. Ramona sat back mumbling something about him being 'such an embarrassment'. After a while I was getting pretty tired and couldn't help the yawns escaping my mouth. Jakob noticed this and offered to walk me back to my room and in his words, "Tuck me in". I tried to resist the urge to 'Aww' at this statement.

When I had said my goodnights to everyone it was time for bed. I went to the bathroom to change into my pyjamas and came out to find a sleepy looking Jakob already in my bed with only boxers on. I climbed into bed and cuddled into him.

"Whatcha doin'?" I asked.
"Well, I figured since you took up my bed last night you owe me," he replied.
"Liar," I said, "You loved it last night and just wanted to cuddle up to me tonight as well... Admit it," I accused.
He raised his arms in mock surrender, "Guilty." I laughed and snuggled even closer. Before long I was asleep.

I was awoken the next morning and was on a plane to the next location, Scotland. It was freezing there. As soon as we got there we went straight to the buses. We were also greeted by Adie, Claudia and Frankito.

I decided to go visit Jakob in his cot. This was a good idea because, when I got there, he was wrapped in a big warm blanket.

"Hey," he said as I pulled the curtain shut.
"I'll get straight to the point," I said. He looked at me confused.
"I want in," I said pointing to the blanket draped over his shoulders. He smiled opening up the blanket so I could climb in with him.
"Hmm... much better."
"Yeah," he agreed.
"What are you doing?" I asked as I noticed a pad and pen to his right with words scribbled down and scratched out.
"Oh that, just trying to write a few lyrics," he smiled.
"Ohh... can I hear?"

"Maybe later," he replied, "right now all I want to do is this," he said, laying us down and wrapping the blanket around us tighter. We stayed like this for a while before I asked him something.
"Jakob?"
"Hmm... "
"Sing for me". He looked at me curious.
"Umm... okay. Any requests?" I shook my head, "okay give me a moment". After a few thoughtful moments he cleared his throat. Then he began to sing.

'And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
you're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
and I don't want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
and all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
or the moment of truth in your lies
when everything feels like the movies
and you bleed just to know you're alive
It was beautiful; I could feel his vocal cords vibrate as he sung softly to me. His voice was echoing in my head. He was definitely the person, the one who could send me into a trance with such simple gestures. He continued to sing.

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I took in every word. That song was soon to become my favourite.'

"I've never heard anyone sing Goo Goo Dolls like you before, I loved it," I commented as he finished.
"Glad you liked it," We sealed our moment with a kiss, our most precious one yet, I think.
"What's up?" Our moment was ruined by Joey, Stella and Ramona barging in.
"Hey where are they?" I heard Joey ask.

I giggled as I pictured a lost looking Joey searching for us under a cushion or something stupid like that. They must have heard this giggle because they soon figured where we were.

"Ohh... What are they doing in there?" Ramona teased.
"Well well well, what have we here?" Joey shouted as he tore back the curtain to reveal us entwined together, wrapped in a blanket.
"Oh My Godfather!" Stella yelled.
"Yes," replied a confused Billie Joe at the door of the bus.
"Hey Dad, you're youngest and most innocent ain't so innocent anymore," Joey laughed as he pointed to us.
"WHAT?!" Billie shouted rushing over to see what Joey was pointing at.
"Hey. What's going on?" Oh great, just the right time for Dad to walk in. He walked over to see what everybody else was looking at.
"Oh my God," he panicked.
"Haha, Bub isn't innocent, Bub isn't innocent," Stella chanted tauntingly. Things had got way out of hand.
"HEY!" I shouted. "Has anybody bothered to ask us what happened yet? NO! Has anyone bothered to notice we are fully clothed? NO! So before you go jumping to conclusions, learn the facts!" I yelled angrily as I shot up and ran out the bus door into the freezing cold air outside. Jakob wasn't far behind.

"Hey," he said enveloping me in a hug. "They were only teasing, its ok nobody's mad." He always knew how to make me feel better, no matter how simple his words.
"I need coffee", I stated. Jakob laughed, "OK then let's go find some."
Half an hour later Jakob and I were seated in a corner of the nearest Starbucks, both nursing hot coffees.
"Feeling better?" Jakob asked. I nodded.
"I just wish they wouldn't embarrass us like that, they could have gotten us in even more trouble." He nodded in agreement. It was silent for a moment.
"We have a great few months ahead of us", I commented. Jakob looked up silently encouraging me to continue.
"When we finish up with our holiday, we only have to wait one week and then Stella and I get to spend another two weeks with Dad at his place, and that's also when holidays start, then towards the end of the holidays we have your birthday, then two months later I turn 15," I explained.
"Hey yeah," he agreed brightening up. We finished our coffee and decided to return to the buses.

By the time we got back to the buses, the guys were already warming up for the show. We left them to warm up in peace and focus.

"I don't feel like catching the show tonight, you?" Jakob asked.
"Nah, not really," I replied.
"Cool, I'm pretty tired",
"Yeah me too."
"Ok how about we go and have a rest and then later we can go get something to eat?" He asked.
"Already on it", I said pulling on his hand, leading him onto the bus.

The rest of the vacation was pretty quiet, just travelling from location to location. The main focus of my time was trying to savour the time I had with Dad. Before we knew it, we were standing at the airport, saying our goodbyes, as it was time for us to head home.

"Bye Bub, I'll see you in a week ok," Dad said giving me a hug.
"Yeah one week, let's hope it goes fast," I replied. He laughed quietly still hugging me. He had already said his goodbyes to Stella. He was still holding onto me when our flight was called. He gave me one final squeeze and set me free. I was off home again. Actually I would return to a proper home in a week.

"Don't worry, we only have to wait one week to see them again, we've gone way longer than that before," Jakob comforted me on the plane.
"Yeah, I know, it's just I hate goodbyes," I replied.
"I know, we all do."

I sighed and prayed the next week would go quickly.

I had gotten word from Mum that Aunty Deb's and Uncle Mark's house will be liveable in around a week's time so that means that when we return, they will be packing up, ready to move back to their own house. I felt so happy all of a sudden. I would spend another two weeks at my favourite place, school had just finished for summer vacation, so no school and I got to spend more time Jakob and my Dad come next week.

The next week seemed to go alright. When I thought about how much I wanted to be back in Dirnt Palace, the time seemed to drag itself out, but the time spent with Jakob went by quickly.

It was already Friday, Dad would be coming back Sunday, and today Jakob and I were going to the movies.

"What do you want to go see?" he asked, looking up at the electronic board displaying the movies showing.
"I don't really care," I mumbled.
Jakob grinned at me, "Yeah, because it's not as if we're actually going to be watching the movie," he winked.

I gave him a playful punch on the arm.

"That all depends on how you play your cards and what movie we see, so you choose and I'll go to the candybar," I said walking off.

When I got to the candybar I only got a small popcorn for Jakob because I really didn't feel like it. I met back up with Jakob and we were walking into some boring movie Jakob had chosen (on purpose) when we heard a high preppy voice call out Jakob's name.

"Hey Jakey, wait up," it was Chantelle, Jakob's ex. "Wow I haven't seen you in ages!" She exclaimed embracing Jakob in a hug.

Jakob didn't hug back but stood there looking utterly shocked.

"Um, hey Chantelle," he muttered. I just stood back and giggled at his awkwardness and her sluttyness.
"Oh, I'm sorry," she said looking at me, "were you two on a date?" she asked evilly.
"Yes, actually we were," I replied grabbing Jakob by the hand and pulling him away.
"Wow Jakey, she almost using as much force on you as you did on me that wonderful night," she smirked.

I stopped and turned around. I looked between the two, Chantelle looking utterly satisfied with herself and Jakob looking as though he was about to puke.

"God, that was such a good party eh Jakey?" She continued.
"Please," Jakob begged Chantelle not to continue, but I had already figured it out.
"I'm still recovering from all that thrusting," she said openly

I walked up and slapped her across the face. "Would it kill you to stop being such a slut for two minutes." I ran off, towards the one place I knew I would feel safe at the moment.

I found the spare key and walked into the huge house and up to my room. I had a sneaking suspicion Jakob had followed me and so when I heard the doorbell, I knew who it was. I decided to answer it, after all Chantelle was a slut so it was only fair that I listen to my own boyfriend's side of the story too. I opened the door and let him in.

"Alright, you have 10 minutes, GO!"
"Okay well, let me start off by saying, I only went out with her to try and make you jealous. I really didn't like her. But this one night she took me to one of the jock's parties. It was really going off, I mean like everybody was getting drunk and sleeping around. I was upset that night because I was going to break up with Chantelle and came to see you to talk," he paused for a moment, "that's when I saw you down at the common making out with David."

David was my last serious boyfriend. I dumped him because he was a little too hands on for my liking, always trying to get me into bed.
The common was a huge place that we would go hang out at, bands would play there and there were no adults so we do what we wanted.

"So," he continued, "I went to the party, got pretty drunk and the next thing I knew I had slept with her," he finished.

I felt guilty then. I felt as if I had made him upset enough to go get drunk and lose his virginity. I told him this.

"No," he said coming over and embracing me in a hug. "It was my own fault. I was stupid enough to get drunk there and sleep with her. None of it was your fault," he comforted. "I've regretted it ever since because I love you."

These last three words rung in my ears and made me smile. "I love you too."
