"I would never think twice about him...would I?", chapter 7

"Please let me see him! Is he alright? Is he alive? Will he be ok?" I ask to nobody in particular, craning my neck to try and see over doctor's heads as Billie gets lifted into the ambulance on a stretcher.
"Look miss, everything will be alright. Why don't you just skip back home and tell your mum what's happened and maybe you can pay a visit later?" some retarded doctor suggests, pushing me out of the way.
"Billie is my fucking friend! I need to be with him, please let me through" I shout, my body shaking with fear.
"Alright, just calm down. Hop into the van, but please be quiet and try to stay calm. Everything will be fine" the doctor reassures, helping me up into the van.

I sit down on a seat and look at Billie where a mask lays over his mouth.
"He'll be fine. Don't worry" A nurse says, writing down some details as we start whizzing towards the hospital. I ignore her and just stare at Billie's blood stained body, tears trickling down my cheeks.

As soon as we get to the hospital, I have to run beside the bed as doctors hurriedly push him into a room.
"You'll have to wait out here. Sorry" Another doctor says, shutting the door in my face before I have a chance to argue back. I can't sit down, my heart is racing and my head is spinning. Why the fuck did things have to end up this way?

I suddenly hear a bang of doors and I look down the corridor and see a rather flustered Mrs. Armstrong coming towards me.
"Oh Ollie, I'm so sorry!" I say, rushing over to her.
"Where is my son?" she screeches.
"He's in there, but I really don't think you should go in" I assure.
"My son is fucking dying in there and you expect me to sit out here and wait while he dies?" she shouts. I cower slightly. Ollie was a lovely woman, I had met her before but she does have a temper on her. I step aside and let her go into the room.

I can hear movement of people and the clank of instruments now and then. Then I hear a shrill scream and doctors come flying out of the room. What had happened? Was it Billie? Was he ok?
I can't stand it any longer. I open the door and step in. I see doctors poking and prodding him with strange objects. I look over to Ollie who is being held back by a doctor, her face is red and her eyes are bloodshot.
"Please stand back" a woman says, grabbing hold of two square instruments. Simultaneously, everybody steps back as she places the objects to Billie's chest. The room is filled with a constant ringing noise.
'Please god, let Billie be ok, let him survive. I can't let him go away, not now. I... I love him' I pray, not taking my eyes off of Billie's helpless body.

His body suddenly jerks upwards as the woman charges the machine and paces it to his chest. The ringing sound carries on.
"Charging again. All clear" She says. She places them on his chest one more time, but still no reaction. She puts them back on the stand and looks over at Ollie. Tears are silently flowing from her eyes.
"No! you can't fucking give up now! Please one last time" I plead. The nurse looks over at Ollie again and she nods her head feebly, knowing she's lost her son for good. And it's all my fault.

She picks up the objects on last time. I hold my breath, the ringing sound throbbing in my ears. I watch hopefully as the nurse slowly places them on Billie's chest...
