You're My Angel, chapter 3

Adriana had set her alarm for ten the next morning, which she decided was way too early the second she heard the loud, revolting buzz that was coming through the speaker. Tré apparently felt the same way.

"Ah... turn it off," he said impatiently. "Let's sleep in."

"We can't Tré," she said turning off the alarm. "Billie is coming over sometime today... I don't know when," she sighed. "He said me and him needed to talk about some stuff."

"Oh," he said sounding completely uninterested. "Well you can go in the other room and talk to him and I'll sleep in."

"He said he didn't want you here," she said with an irritated tone. "So do me a favour and disappear for a little while."

"Why can't I be here?" he asked suddenly sitting up. "Never mind... I don't even want to know!"

Tré had changed his mind and decided that he did want to know why he couldn't be around while Billie was there. Adriana refused to tell him anything... which was because she didn't know anything either. After protesting for a good fifteen minutes, Tré finally got tired of begging. He eventually got out of bed and went to take a shower.

After Tré had left the room, she lay back down in her bed and closed her eyes. She tried to think about what Billie could possibly want to talk to her about. After thinking about it for a few minutes she found herself getting nervous.

She started thinking that he might have told someone else about his and Jamie's situation. She worried that whoever he told might have told him about her feelings that she had kept hidden from him.

The bathroom door swung open and Tré came into the room. He was fully dressed... this was quite a surprise considering his behaviour in the past. He stood up on top of the bed and started jumping on it, which made Adriana sick at her stomach.

"Why did I have to get up if you don't have to get up?" he asked still jumping.

"Tré stop it... you're going to make me throw up!!" she shouted. "And get your dirty shoes off my bed." He finally stopped and sat down on the bed next to her.

"Where am I supposed to go?" he questioned. "I practically live here, you know... "

"I don't know... you'll figure it out," she said looking up at the ceiling. "Why don't you go over to Lisea's house? It seems like you two have chemistry or something."

"I see what you're doing," he said sadly. "You're trying to get rid of me."

"I am only making you leave because Billie said he didn't want you to be here," she assured him.

"Okay... but if you're going to sleep with him please, please don't do it in the bed," he said with a laugh. "I don't like fucking sleeping where other people had sex."

"Shut up Tré," she said pushing him over on the bed. "Just come back in a few hours, okay?"

He stuck his tongue out at her before getting up and heading for the door. She waited until she heard his car leave the driveway before she got up and took a shower.

As she was getting out she heard the front door open again. She would have been alarmed but she figured it was Tré since he was the only one that had a key.

"I thought I told you to come back in a few hours," she called out towards the living room.

"What?" the person she had thought was Tré asked.

"How did you get in?" she asked when Billie walked into her bedroom and sat down on the bed. "Never mind... what did you want to talk to me about?"

"Can you come with me to find an apartment today?" he asked.

"Huh?" she asked with a confused look on her face. "Surely that's not all."

"Yeah," he said as he flipped on the TV.

"You got me all worked up for nothing," she told him before putting the TV on mute. "So why couldn't Tré be here?"

"Mike and Tre tried to talk me out of getting married," he started. "A few weeks before the wedding... I guess I should have listened," he paused. "Anyway, they said that she wasn't the one that I should marry and blah, blah, blah... I just thought they were jealous or something."

"Oh," she said not knowing what else to say.

"I just didn't want to have the whole 'I told you so' conversation," he sighed.

"Why don't you just stay here," Adriana tried to convince him. "There is no reason for you to pay rent when you're never going to home anyway."

He told her no because Tré and Mike would find out that way and he just didn't want to deal with it... at least not until they got done with their next tour. She was disappointed with this answer because she hadn't spent very much time with him since he got married. She really missed having one of her best friends around.

After looking at apartments all over the city all day long, Billie finally found one that he liked enough to actually consider living there.

"What do you think?" he asked Adriana.

"I like it," she said. "It's really far from my house though," she frowned.

"The residence next door to this one is also available," the lady showing us the apartment said. "Would you like to look at it, too?"

"Oh... Adriana you could live across from me... and you would be a lot closer to work. Please?" he begged her. "And I could help you move in before we go back on tour."

"Billie, you are leaving on Saturday and I have to work all week," she reminded him. "When are we going to have time to move all of your stuff by ourselves, let alone all of mine?"

She said she would need some time to think about it and that she might not move right away because of their uncompromising schedule. Just to make him happy though, she went ahead and gave them the security deposit so they would hold it until she made a decision about it.

Billie took her out to dinner at a really nice restaurant and pleaded consistently for almost two hours. Exasperated at his persistence, she finally gave in and agreed to move in across from his place. He agreed to move her stuff in while she was at work if she wanted him to.

"What about Jamie?" Adriana asked as they were driving back to her house. "Are you two getting divorced or just separating for awhile?"

"The first one," he said without taking his eyes off the road.

"Oh," she said trying not to sound at all excited about his choice.

"This is what needs to be done," he said a little unconfidently.

"Billie who are you trying to convince here?" she questioned. "Me or you?"

He didn't say anything else for the rest of the drive to her house. She knew that it was a hard decision for him to make... after all he didn't just marry Jamie on impulse. He really loved her and she knew he went into the marriage truly believing that Jamie was the girl he wanted to be with forever.

--

On Monday afternoon, it was back to work for Adriana. Fortunately for her, what Billie had said in the car on Saturday night had left her with a fairly good outlook on the situation. Not only was she getting her best friend back, but also she wouldn't have to battle Jamie for his time anymore.

Although she was very happy with the circumstances, she also felt bad because she knew that Billie did truly love her and that all of him didn't want their relationship to end. She figured it would be a long road to recovery for him, but she was willing to help him through the hard time. After all, he had done the same for her many, many times before.

She was glad that the guys were going back on tour for a few months. That way, Billie would be rather busy and wouldn't have too much time to reflect on the position that he had fallen into. Another plus would be having Tré around... he really knew how to put someone in a better mood.

Tré had basically been her savoir after Billie's wedding. While Billie and Jamie were on their honeymoon in New York, he was there every night to try to console her. They would stay up most of the night talking... Adriana leaving out the majority of the essential details. Then when Adriana would go to work, Tré would catch up on the sleep he had missed the night before.

That had continued for two weeks, but after Billie returned Tré never left. He just kind of adopted that as his house. All of that was okay with her, since she hated living there alone anyway.

When Adriana returned home from work early Wednesday morning, Billie still had not been over to her house to start moving everything. She had figured that he would be done moving in to his apartment by then... he didn't have that much stuff.

She was a little relieved that he hadn't been there yet. There were a lot of belongings that she had that were completely off-limits to any other eyes but her own. She went to her closet and got down a box from the top shelf.

She had forgotten about most of the pictures, letters, and other random things that were in that box. Although she knew she had to work in the morning and would be useless if she didn't go to sleep right then, she wanted to look through the memories that she had made with Billie over the years.

There was a big envelope that had letters that she had written but had never given to him. The one on top was the one she had written a few days before the wedding. She decided not to read that one since it had been the most difficult one for her to write.

She took all of the letters out and started with the first one. It was the one that she had written after she realized that she liked him. The date at the top read October 2, 1985. She had felt something for him for nine years... she hadn't realized that much time had passed.

For months she thought that she would stop liking him and that it was only a simple crush. But there was just something about him that she couldn't let go of... he did something to her that she couldn't explain.

Sometime during her trip down memory lane, she had fallen into a deep slumber. She was abruptly awakened by Tré's voice. When she sat up, she realized that she was totally surrounded by the old letters and pictures that she had been looking at earlier that morning.

"Tré, what the hell are you doing?" she asked. "Go away!"

"I'm robbing you," he said sarcastically. "What the hell does it look like I'm doing?"

"It looks like you need to leave me alone so I can get some sleep," she said pushing him towards the door.

"We are moving your stuff today," he told her. "And you need to put all of that shit up... " He said motioning towards the things that were scattered around her. "Billie is in the kitchen."

Tré helped her put everything that was lying on her bed back up. She told him to guard it with his life and not to let Billie go anywhere near it.

Luckily it was only eight and seeing as she didn't have to be at the hospital until four, Adriana went back to sleep. She didn't sleep very well though... in that box were all of her feelings for Billie that she had held back from him for so long.

Now they were all in his possession.
