"Hi, I'm Your Neighbour.", chapter 3
I heard it being pulled open and some pretty loud male screaming. I knew who it was right away. My step-dad. I know I haven't mentioned him before, but that's because I didn't want to. He was the worst thing that had ever happened to me. And the fact that Billie's family absolutely adored me helped out the most. I heard Eric trying to negotiate with my father that I wasn't there.
"I KNOW SHE'S HERE "
"She's not. Sir, please leave. She's not here, and we haven't seen her since last week when she came over."
"I know she's fucking here now tell me where she is " he screamed.
Billie Joe and Mike knew my situation and quickly hid me under Billie's bed, which by the way, was crammed with smelly old clothes and socks. I almost held my breath the whole time. The boys started doing normal stuff; listening to music, reading comic books, anything to look natural. Which made it easier to listen. Finally I heard quite clearly enough. Billie's mom had been called over by my step-dad to recall when she had last seen me.
"I haven't seen her since last week, Mr. Simon. Please leave our home, my son has a friend over and I don't want them scared that something's going on. Your daughter's not here. Goodbye Sir." she said, and I heard the door slam and lock right in his face. Ollie was always the strongest woman I knew. She amazed me.
Billie and Mike signalled me to come out, and when I got fully out from under the bed, I breathed long and deep, taking in the fresh air.
"Are you OK?" Mike asked me.
"Yeah. I'm fine. Billie, clean the underside of your bed out. And do it soon, before I ever have to do that again, please?" I said, while still catching my breath.
They laughed. Billie then dismissed himself quietly to go to the bathroom. Now was the perfect time to talk to Mike about Billie.
"So, Mike. Why is Billie pink as a primrose this fine evening?" I asked, with a fake divine voice.
"You have o promise you won't tell him I told you."
