Haushinka, chapter 1

I sat there in my room, listening to my all-time favorite band, Green Day, when I finally got the idea to write something. I guess maybe that's why people called me Ink. It came from my name and I love to write. My name was given to me because of a stupid song my stupid dad wrote when he first met my mom. My dad is in this stupid band and I don't even know who he is! I've never talked to him. I'm half chinese/half white, with green eyes and black wavy hair. It was about 7:30am and I was waiting to go to school.

"Haushinka, breakfast is ready!" my mother called.
"Okay." I called back and walked downstairs into the kitchen.
"Don't you get your report card today?" my mom asked me.
"Um, yeah, I think so." I replied.
"Okay. If you have a good report card, we'll go get that C.D. you want." my mother told me.

My mom rewarded me for good grades. The C.D. I wanted was Green Day's Nimrod. It was the only one I needed to have all of them. Later that day at school, I got my report card. I was relieved when I read that I had all straight 'A's.

"Yes! Finally, I'll get that C.D.!" I said under my breath.

When I got home, I praticaly shoved my report card into my mom's face.

"Very good. Ready to go to Wal-Mart?" She asked me after looking at it.
"Yeah!" I said, and we went to the car and headed there.

On the way there, my mom informed me on some information.

"You know, I think the song you were named after was put onto a C.D. I just can't remember what it was called." She said to me.

I didn't really care. We got to Wal-Mart and bought the C.D. On the way home, I checked out what the songs were on this C.D. I noticed that number twelve was called Haushinka.

"Mom, there's a song called Haushinka on here." I said shocked.
"So there is." She replied with a smile.
"Mom, is this the C.D. you were talking about?!" I said seriously. Very seriously.
"Hhhmmm." She said with a smile still on her face.

My jaw dropped. Okay, so one of the three members of Green Day is my dad. Okay. Wait, I have to find out who wrote that song! I almost ripped the thing to shreds trying to find out. In the back was the answer. It said 'All words written by Billie Joe Armstrong.'

"Holy freak!" I screamed. My mom almost ran into a car because of it.
"What?!" She screamed back.
"Billie freakin Joe Armstrong is my freakin dad, that's what!" I screamed back.

That moment changed my life forever. It turned out that my stupid dad who wrote that stupid song who was in that stupid band, was really a punk rock legend who was in the greatest band on earth!

"Whoa." I said under my breath, taking in everything that this meant.

That night my mom was on the phone for a while. She sounded upset. The next day was a holiday, so I decided to go to the park to pass some time. When I came back, I faced a mother passed out on the floor. I called 911 but it was too late.

"Do you have any other family? If you don't then you will have to go to a foster home, since you're only 16." The cop informed me.
"Yeah I have other family, my dad." I said in a daze.
"Okay, what's your dad's name?" The cop asked me.
"Billie Joe Armstrong." I said. The cop said thank you and left.

I went up to my room and packed my stuff. The next day the cop came and took me to Oakland, California.

"What did you tell him?" I asked the cop.
"I told him that his daughter's mother had died and now she was coming to live with you. I didn't tell him your name." The cop said
.
We arrived there and I knocked on the door. Billie-err, dad opened the door.

"Haushinka." He said. "Come in." He said taking my bags from me.

I walked into this HUGE living room. There were two boys arguing on the couch about what to watch on T.V., a woman trying to settle the kids down, A man sitting there betting with another man on who was going to win, the woman or the boys. Dad walked me over to the group.

"Everyone, this is Haushinka. Haushinka, this is Tre', Mike, Adrienne or Adie you can call her either one if you want, Joey, and Jake." Dad said pointing to each one as he said their names.

I smiled, taking in everyone and everything. Was this really happening to me?

"Um, Dad, where do I put my bags?" I asked. He paused for amoment before answering.
"Upstairs, in the guest bedroom, I guess for now. That will be your room, we'll paint it this weekend, if you want." He said with a smile on his face.
"Okay, do I get to pick out the colors?" I asked, with a smile on my face aswell.
"Sure, why not?" He said leading me upstairs.

We walked upstairs talking about concerts and random stuff.

"So, I heard you when you called me dad." Dad said looking at me.
"Yeah, is that okay?" I said looking back at him.
"Okay?! That's perfectly fine! I just figured for the whole time you're here, you would me calling me 'You', or 'Him'. I didn't expect it so soon!" Dad said smiling.
"So, what is Mike and Tre' like? Is Adie nice? What about Joey and Jake?" I had so many questions, I just had to ask.
"Mike, and Tre' are cool people, Adie is possibly the nicest person you'll ever meet, Joey is stubborn, like me, and Jake is just a sweet kid." Dad said looking at me.
"Oh. So, can I paint my room black and green?" I asked.
"Sure, why not?" Dad said. We reached my room and unpacked my things.

Two weeks later, I was having a blast. Dad and I were close, but Tre' and I were tight. He was my best friend. Adie, she was the nicest person so far I had known, Joey was funny as freak, and Jake was just adorable. Mike and I were in the middle of 'good terms' and 'bad terms'. I was singing in my bedroom when I found out just exactly what I had inherited from my dad. A couple of days later, Tre' and Mike were over when they mentioned it.

"Hey, Haushy, sing for us." Mike said to me.
"Okay first off, never call me 'Haushy' and second, no." I said sitting down.
"Please? You take after your daddy in that department!" Mike said.
"Really?" I said flattered.
"Yeah, so please?" Mike asked again.
"No!" I said.
"Please?" Mike asked again.
"No." I said a little irritated.
"Please?!" Mike asked making puppy dog eyes.
"I said no, now shut up!" I said really irritated.
"You know, you're just as stubborn as your daddy. Has anyone ever told you that?" Mike asked.
"No, considering I just met him two weeks ago." I said sarcasticly.
"Well someone is being a brat today!" Mike said looking at me.
"Well someone is being a little irritating jerk today!" I said mocking him and smiling a little.
"Yep, she's Billie kid!" Tre' said after easedropping on our conversation. I couldn't help it, I cracked up.
"What's going on?" Dad asked walking in to the room.
"Haushy's being you." Mike said. I jumped up and whacked him upside the head.
"Haushinka!" Dad looked at me bugged-eyed.
"I said don't call me 'Haushy'!" I said angrily.
"I just wanted you to sing." Mike said looking sad. Dad stared at me and raised an eyebrow.
"Uhh, fine this is for yours truly, Mike!" I said glaring at him.
"I see you down on the front line, such a sight for sore eyes, your a suicide make-over. There I sung." I said crossing my arms over my chest.
"Whoo!" Tre' said clapping. I smiled.
"Thanks." Mike said, smiling.

Fights like this kept happening over next two days. Then The One happened that would change relationships forever. We were at the park when it happened.

"Uh, why did Dad make me do this?" I said rolling my eyes.
"He wants us to spend more time with each other and maybe we might actually get along." Mike said smiling.
"You just like torturing me, don't you?" I said looking at him.
"Yep!" He said smiling.
"Why?!" I asked looking at him.
"Why what?" He asked looking at me.
"Ever since I moved here, you can't help but bug the crap out of me! WHY?!" I asked angrily.
"Actually, ever since YOU moved here, Tre' hasn'n been so...Tre'-ish! And You guys have been hanging out a lot!" Mike said angrily.
"What are you saying?! That I'm a tramp?!" I asked very angrily.
"Just like your mom!:" He said smiling meanly.
"How dare you!" I sadi to him and slapped him. He stared at me for five seconds. Then he leaned in and kissed me! Not just a tender kiss, a make-out kiss!
After I recovered from my shock, I pushed him off. "What the freak are you doing?" I asked him shocked and angrily.
"Oh, don't tell me you didn't notice!" Mike said shocked.
"What?!" I asked confused?
"Haushinka, I love you!" Mike said. I was silent for a few minutes.
"I..gotta...go!" I said, breaking past him and running.
"Haushinka!" Mike said to me after I was pretty far away from him.

I reached home and ran straight to my room. On my way, Dad asked me something, but I tuned everything out except those four words. I got to my room and sat on my bed. I had a lot to think about. Was what Mike was saying true, and was I in love with him, too? No. My heart yearned for someone else, but who? Then it all made sense.

"Oh my God," I said under my breath," I'm in love with...Tre'!" I said, falling back on my bed. What did I get myself into?
