Fight for your Right, chapter 1

It was another day of another week. That's right, a Monday. Another day of school, that was either worth looking forward to, or fearing.

Me and Billie had been friends, long ago. Me, Tiffany, Billie and Mike had all been a group. Then we separated. More of a 'girls against guys' thing. It had been the summer of fourth grade.

*Four Years Ago*

I looked across the street, at Billie's house. He was suppose to be coming over soon. Him and Mike, then Tiff and her older cousin were coming over to my house. Then I saw a car pull up, and Mike ran across the porch of Billie's house.

"Great, now where's Tiffany and Liz?" And soon enough, a green car pulled into our driveway. I ran out to see Tiff, with her shoulder-length blonde hair, pulled back somewhat, and her cousin, with her long black hair. They looked funny standing together.

Tiffany was small, and tan. Her hair really stood out with her tan skin. Liz was tall, and was a Junior in high school. She was average weight and had long black hair, and was pale (which made them look even funnier next to each other). I looked a lot like Tiffany, but a little taller, and had reddish dark-brown hair. Billie did to, which was cool, because I looked a lot like my two best friends.

"Hey Melissa, sorry we're late," Tiffany said pointing to Liz a little.

"According to what I've heard, I'm missing two already," Liz grumbled, she didn't like babysitting, but it was the pool...

"They should be over soon. Actually, we can go get them." Me and Tiffany ran across the street. Liz stayed behind and went inside to help herself to a drink or something probably.

I ran up onto the porch and started knocking and didn't stop. Just kept knocking over and over again. We both did that, that's how we knew it was us.

Billie opened the door and immediately started, "Mike was in a hurry, so he's changing into his trunks here." Billie was wearing a green shirt that said something on it but it was so old and faded I didn't bother to read it, and a pair of black trunks.

Then a folded towel smacked Billie in the back of the head. "Your mom told me to give you that."

"Thanks, what a great friend," he said with a smirk, smacking Mike across the face with the towel as if it was a bat.

"Break it up, let's go," I said grabbing their arms and dragging them along. Tiffany ran across the street to get Liz out of the house and into the car. Me, Billie and Mike got in the back seat, me in the middle to prevent them from fighting.

"At least wait until we get to the pool, so it will be fair, and you don't bother to many other people around you," I said laughing and confiscating the towels.

"You're just saying that so the life guards will break us up and you don't have to!"

"What makes you think that?!" I said sarcastically. It was halfway true though, but that was part of the 'and you don't bother other people around you part'. They didn't say anything else though, but something was up.

Then Billie put his arm around me.

Ok now, Billie was cool and all, but this was creepy. I looked at him confused, and he looked down at me. I could tell he had been looking behind me, and he was smiling. He quickly changed his expression trying to be normal again, but with his arm around me that wouldn't help. I knew he was doing something to Mike.

"Billie it's not working!!" I said quickly laughing moving forward so his arm wasn't around me anymore. He immediately grabbed Mike's hair and pulled. He had been trying to do that the entire time, but now he had been figured out and was trying harder.

Mike screamed and they both started hitting each other and and poking and grabbing hair again. I was just leaning forward trying to get out of it. "TIFF, HELP!!" I said laughing. She swirled around, and to my surprise, jumped into the back seat too!

Everyone was yelling.

There was the laughing, then Billie and Mike yelling at each other (they were kidding but it was still funny), then there was me, squirming and trying to get to the front seat, Tiff was yelling at the boys at first, then she pretty much joined in, and Liz was yelling for everyone to quit and for Tiff to get back in the front seat.

I soon found my way up to the front seat and plopped down. "Hello," I said to Liz. She was glaring at me. "We're close, aren't we?"

"Yeah, that's why I haven't stopped the car yet." We heard a load bang, and Tiffany started crying.

"Oh my god! What did you guys do?!" I yelled as we pulled into the pool parking lot. There was a blood streak down the window, and Tiff's nose was bright red.

"I don't know, I guess someone pushed her," Mike said getting out of the car. Then Billie got out, then Tiff. I walked around to where everyone was standing, watching her.

She sobbed a little more then brought her hand down and looked at it. She had had it on her nose, and now it was covered in blood. "Mike! You butthead!!" Then she punched him square in the nose. Liz had gone up to get some wet napkins and I was just standing there in awe.

"Oh my god!" he yelled. Now he was holding his nose too.

"Hurts, doesn't it!" she screamed. She was strong too, that had to hurt.

"I didn't do it! It was Billie!" he yelled.

"Was not, that was on Mike's side, he kicked you into the window!" Billie yelled defensively, for himself!

"Did no-!' That was all he could get out...before she started beating the crap out of him! He was laying on the pavement at first, then he got up and it was a real fist fight. I fight of two fourth graders. Except Tiff wasn't one to sissy-slap. She punched, she had four older brothers. Me and Billie immediately dove in. I went after Mike and he went after Tiff. We got them off of each other and immediately started yelling at them. I thought it was Mike's fault, Billie thought it was Tiffany's.

Me:

"Mike, what the heck! You just beat the crap out of my best friend!"

"She punched me, Melissa!"

"You slammed her into a window!"

"Did not! Billie did!"

Billie:

"Get off me Billie, he has no idea what's comin' for him!"

"Tiff, you punched him in the nose! What did you expect him to do?"

"He kicked me and slammed me into a window!"

"So we were goofing off, it's your fault! You joined! This happens to me and Mike all the time!"

"Yeah whatever!"

"Fine, I lied. But still!"

Next Liz came running out with napkins and saw us yelling at each other, and Mike and Tiff covered in blood. "Oh my god you guys! What the hell did you do!"

"She punched me!"

"He pushed me into your window and made my nose bleed!"

"You guys shut up!" me and Billie both yelled. Then Tiffany started yelling at Billie again and Mike started yelling at me. You can kind of see why we're not friends anymore.

Liz took us home, and mom paid her extra. We found out Mike had a broken nose and Tiff just sprained her wrist, and me and Billie still argued about who's fault it was.

*Back to Present*

Now one might think, that this would be hilarious four years later. For us, it wasn't. We would kinda forgive each other, then it would come up again, and we would immediately seperate Mike and Tiff and me and Billie would have a converstion later about whose fault THAT argument was.

So yeah, if you haven't already found that annoying, it was, fast. But after a while, you just forget about why you hate them, and just hate them.

I walked out of my house and started down the street, then I heard footsteps behind me. "Billie, I know it's you, no use in trying to be sneaky."

"Why would I waste my time trying to scare you?"

"I was about to ask you that," I said back, not looking at him.

"What a stupid question," he said. I started to laugh, he must have forgotten that he said it and I didn't. He finally caught on and glared at me. He stepped on my foot and pushed my shoulder back hard. He had done this to me before though so I quickly grabbed his hair so he came down with me.

"Uh oh, Billie, ya got me, I think you made my shoe cry," I said sarcastically, standing back up. My back and shoulder did hurt, but I couldn't let them see that.

"Well something else will be crying before the days over," he smirked, punching me in the stomach. I hunched over and tried to keep from throwing up. He was strong. I'll get him back later today though. Like he said, he would be crying before the days over.

Welcome to my life.
