After I hung up the phone, I started to get ready to meet sonny. I was excited and fearful at the same time. I quickly grabbed my purse and slipped on my etnies. All the way down the street toward the park, my little voice was yelling at me more and more, telling me to go back.
But I didn't listen.
As I got nearer and nearer to the park, I could make out 4 dark shadows of 4 tall guys standing by the swings. I suddenly became nervous, along with scared and excited, because i had never met the other guys before.
Sonny must have noticed me because he was walking next to me before I even noticed he had come over. Note to self: Pay more attention to surroundings.
"Glad to see you made it." he said, smiling brightly at me.
"I said I'd be here, did you think I was lying?" I asked sarcastically and smiled back at him. It had been the first time I had smiled in a long while.
He rolled his eyes and brought me over to the other three boys who were all, of course, wearing black and eyeliner, excetara. He pointed to each of them, and introducing them to me. I have to remember each of their names. Derek Bloom, Travis Richter, and Matt Good.
Matt walked up to me and kissed my hand, which freaked me out a bit. "Hello Max, nice to meet you. You are all that Sonny has been talking about ever since we started school." he said and smirked evily at sonny, and sonny elbowed him in the side. I think I may have blushed, because I felt my cheeks becoming warmer.
Derek stepped up next and shook my hand, "Yea, I believe one night he said, 'I think she's going to be the one I lose my virginity too, and I hope she does for me too'." he said and laughed.
I didn't laugh.
I bit my lower lip and let out a fake sounding laugh. Derek looked a little confused and he was about to ask me what was wrong, but Sonny shook his head no to Derek. Travis walked up and hugged me.
"It's really nice to meet you Max. We thought we would never get the chance. We thought Sonny was going to hog you all to himself." he said and smiled.
I had to laugh at that.
For the next couple of hours, we all hung out talking about random things. I even remember having a convorsation on our favorite types of muffins, but.. none on that now. At around 8, everyone started to leave. First Derek had to go home to help with dinner, then Travis had to go pick up groiceries for his mom, then Matt just left.
Sonny and I sat on the swings, not swinging or talking, just.. sitting. I stared at the darkened sky and tried to think of something to say to start up a conversation, but I couldn't think of anything. I looked over to Sonny's swing, and he wasn't sitting on it anymore, I became a little alarmed, but then a pair of hands grabbed the chain on my swing and lightly pulled back.
I looked back and saw Sonny standing behind me and pushing me back and forth.
"I'm not handicapped you know." I said and smirked at him. He stuck his tounge out at me and pushed my back lightly.
"Yea, I know. I felt like pushing you though." he said and smiled sweetly at me.
For about another hour, Sonny pushed me on the swing, and we told eachother every secret, and every moment of our lives. I even told him about how, when Matt kissed my hand, I got freaked out. He laughed. He told me about how one preppy girl had asked him out. Her name is Cathryn Johshin, and shes the most popular girl at our school, but he turned her down because he liked someone else. She got REALLY pissed off, I guess.
After we were done telling eachother about our 'dork days' we randomly started a game of tag. I felt like I was 5 years old again, but i didn't care. Apparently, neither did Sonny. He was it, and trying to catch up with me. (i'm one of the fastest runner in school, I just hate being competitive in school)
I slowed down a bit so he could catch up, and when he did, he wrapped his arms around my waist and picked me up.
"You're it." he said with a grin.
"No, I'm Max." I said sarcasically.
"No, you're weird."
"Yea, and damn proud of it!" I said and we both started laughing.
I guess he could scence I was a bit uncomfortable in his arms, so he lightly set me down. I had a major decision to make here. My heart was telling me, "Go! Kiss him, you know you can trust him." but the little voice inside my head was sceaming, "No! Don't! You can't trust anyone, never ever again." I didn't know which to choose. I followed my heart once, and it had turned out all wrong, but following the voice in my head would mean loneliness forever.
I took his hands and wrapped his arms back around my waist and I looked up at his beautiful eyes, full of trust and understanding. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him passionatly.
By this time, the little voice inside my head must have given up on me and gone to get a burrito or something because now I could only hear my heart. Sonny seemed a bit surprized, yet happy at the same time.
"But.." he started, then he leaned in and kissed me back. After that, we started making out, but it didn't go any further than that because Sonny must have known I was not ready for that yet.
We both laid in the grass next to each other and stared up at the sky. It was the perfect night and even the moon was perfectly round. I looked over at Sonny, he had his eyes closed and was smiling slightly. I rolled over on my side and rested my head on his chest, he opened his eyes, and started to stroke my hair.
The next Day
I woke up when I felt someone kick my foot. I sat up quickly and me and Matt hit heads.
"Ouch! that's gonna leave a bruise." he said, rubbing his forehead.
"Then don't lean over me like that!" I yelled at him, he just rolled his eyes.
"Well, you and Mr. Sleepy over there fell asleep at the park, I figured that you'd want to be woken up." he said then threw a rock at sonny and it hit him in the leg. Sonny sat up, and chucked the rock back at Matt, and it hit him in the stomache.
I had to laugh at that.
Matt rubbed his head and his stomache at the same time, I swear it looked like he was trying to dance.
I laughed again.
I looked at Sonny and rubbed the place on his leg where the rock had hit.
"Aweh, poor Sonny." I said and smiled at him.
"Yea, poor me!" he said and put his hand over mine and he kissed me. Matt's eyes widened and he started laughing.
"Ha! I win the bet." he said, and both Sonny and I gave him a wierd look. "Travis, Derek and I all bet on when you two would become a couple! AND I WON! woot!" he said and started doing a little victory dance.
I rolled my eyes, "Technically, we aren't a couple yet. We are 'friends with benefits'."
"Yea, and I'm liking the benefits." Sonny said and leaned in towards me and we started making out again.
Then I heard sirens from a cop car getting closer and closer, I figured that it was just a cop car that was going by but then someone came up behind us.
"YOU TWO! SEPARATE AND YOU ALL PUT YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!" the cop yelled to us and I looked at Matt then at sonny, they both looked just as confused as I was, but we did what we were told to.
