"I Did It Billie. I Killed Him.", chapter 3

I wrapped my jacket tighter around me to escape from the cold, evening air. I looked at the ground as I walked, seeing the shadows of Billie and me, morphed into one as the streetlights lit our path. When we finally got back to the Gilman, Mike and Tre were the only people left.

"Oooh...Billie picked up a stray."

"Shut up, Tre," I smiled after Billie said that.

"Where've you been?" Mike asked, putting his bass back into it's case.

"Ashlee and I went to get coffee."

"So, this must be Ashlee," Tre laughed.

"Oh, right. Ashlee this is Mike and Tre. Guys this is Ashlee."

"Hi," I said softly and shook their hands.

"Are you guys, like, a couple now?" Tre asked. "Billie, you were out of our sight for 20 minutes and then you walk back inside with her," We all laughed.

"Ashlee's gonna stay with me for a little while until she figures things out," Tre whistled and Billie rolled his eyes.

*In Front of Billie's House*

After dropping Mike and Tre off, and after Tre had cracked a few jokes about us, Billie and I finally arrived at his house. We walked inside and into the living room to find a woman reading the paper from the couch. She looked up when we walked into the room. "Hi, Billie. Who's your friend?"

"This is Ashlee. Ashlee, this is my mom, Ollie," I smiled and said hello. "Ashlee's having some trouble with her parents and I was wondering if she could stay here until she figures some things out."

"Well, of course you can."

"Thank you so much," I smiled and hugged her. She was a little taken back at how excited I was about this. She showed me to the guest room and I got ready to go to bed. I decided I had to let somebody know where I was, so I decided to call my sister Kayla at school in Oregon.

"Hello?" Kayla answered sleepily.

"Hey, Kayla, it's Ashlee."

"It's so late, are you okay?" She yawned.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I met this guy at the Gilman punk club and he's letting me stay with him for a few days until I figure things out."

"Well, Ashlee you know you can stay with me next year after I get out of college."

"I'm just surprised Mom and Dad are still paying for college."

"It's that bad, huh?"

"I can't go back there, Kayla. I can't get hit by either of them again."

"Ashlee, I'm going to come home this summer. Don't worry. Just don't give up faith. I know something good will come your way."

"I think it already has," I smiled.

"Why? What's the deal with this guy you're staying with?"

"Well..." I sat on my bed and crossed my legs like a tenager with a crush. "He's this adorable guy, and the lead singer of a band."

"Wow, good job, Ashlee."

"Thanks. Well, I guess I'll let you get back to sleep. Thanks for always being here for me, Kayla. I love you."

"I love you, too kid. See you soon."

"Okay...bye."

"Bye," I hung up and looked around the room. I couldn't wait to see Kayla. She always knew what to do. I looked up to see Billie standing in the doorway.

"How long have you been standing there?" I asked.

"Long enough," Billie just smiled and walked away. He heard me say that he was an adorable lead singer. Way to go Ash...
