You're So Last Summer, chapter 1
Well I was just a normal 21-year-old girl, but my life was going to be anything but normal in the next few months. My name is Blaine, I have orange like hair, I'm skinny and tall. I work at a record store, and I'm in college to be an attorney. Well civil rights attorney, my parent's won't pay for my college if I won't be what they want. Well my story starts off in the record store I work at.
It was about 8:30 in the morning when I first got in the store to be greeted by one of my longest and best friends Lillian. It was cool that we worked together. But we we're in to totally different music. Lillian well was a pop and rock fan loving Jesse McCartney, Simple Plan, and some other pop bands and rock bands. Me I was a die hard rock fan. I loved emo music, especially Taking Back Sunday and Silverstein they we're my favorites. But I was also a die-hard Indie fan. I went to all of my favorite Indie band concerts.
"Morning Blaine!" Lillian said.
"Good Morning Lilly." I said back.
"Hey guess what!" Lillian said.
"Umm a huge pig flew from the sky?" I asked, Lillian and I had a thing for cows and pigs.
"What? Are you serious? Wait no you liar!" Lillian yelled.
"Okay fine what are you making me guess?" I asked laughing.
"Well your favorite band is having a contest here and a concert!" Lillian said.
"Which favorite band?" I asked laughing I had so many favorite bands.
"TAKING BACK SUNDAY!" Lillian yelled. She didn't like some of their music but she has a crush on Mark O'Connell, the drummer.
"What!? Are you serious!?" I yelled.
"Uh DUH, Look we just got the flyers today to put up in the store." Lillian said shoving the paper in my face.
"Blaine, you NEED to enter, I mean you never have fun anymore and it'd be cool." Lilly said.
"Yeah, well what do I win?" I asked Lilly.
"Well it says you get to go to the concert, and with a friend hint hint me! Meet the band afterward." Lillian said.
"Hmm, yeah I will take you if I win, let's go enter." I said.
"What you mean "we"?" Lillian asked like a freak.
"If we both enter we have a better chance." I said.
"Fine but its only for you and I wanna meet Mark!" Lillian said.
"Okay." I said laughing.
We both submitted a form, and went back to work. Our manager never comes in, he calls us to make sure we're okay, so we put on music and sing to it. The store has actually been doing really good so far. Then my favorite and Lillian's favorite song from Taking Back Sunday came on. It was You're So Last Summer, and we we're laughing and singing to it. It was really one of the happiest times I've had in a long time. Then "Summer Skin" from Death Cab For Cutie came on. I loved that song and I just sang along to it and put up the CDs. Sometimes I would take some CDs, but hey there are like fifty of the same CDs.
It had been about two weeks after the deadline, me and Lillian we're pretty sure we hadn't won the contest but we were okay with that.
I went up to my apartment building to check my mail before I went to work. There was a lotta advertisements, so I decided to look at it all in the store.
"Morning Lil." I said.
"Morning Laine." Lilly said.
"I have so much crap come for me now, I'm sick of it." I said flipping through the stack of papers.
"Yeah same." Lillian said as she sat down next to me.
"Oh wait, here's ... A THING FROM TAKING BACK SUNDAY!" I yelled.
"Must you say thing?" Lillian said.
"I'm serious it's a letter from the place where we submitted our papers." I said.
I quickly opened the letter and read it aloud to Lillian.
"Dear Blaine, We are very excited to inform you that you have won the Taking Back Sunday contest. On July 16th you and a guest will be at the Taking Back Sunday concert, and you will meet the band after the concert. So once again congratulations, and make sure you bring these tickets and show them to the vendors after the show." I couldn't believe I was saying that aloud.
"YOU SUCK!" Lillian said laughing.
"What? Why?" I said.
"Because I wanted to win!" Lillian said laughing.
"Well we both win.' I said.
