Horny, Corny and Loving You, chapter 6
We decided to go see Beetlejuice because it had just come out a few weeks ago and I wanted to see it. It was really good.
"I liked the part when they went into the graveyard and saw Beetlejuice. It was so cool," Tre said I nodded. I remembered Beetlejuice being a perv in that scene.
"That's because you're just as perverted as Beetlejuice." He laughed.
"My favorite part was when they were at dinner and they were possessed so they sang," I said.
Mike and Billie nodded. Tre started singing the song from the scene. Mike, Billie and I laughed at him. He insisted he was a good 'sanger' and continued. I eventually got him to shut up by kissing him. We went back to the car and just as I was getting in my cell phone rang. It was my friend Audrey. Audrey had been my only girl friend and we usually hung out together in school. I hadn't talked to her in months because for most of the summer in Texas with her grandmother. She told me she was back and wanted me to go to the mall with her. I missed her and gladly agreed. She told me to meet her at her house. I asked Billie to drive me over to her house.
"Can I come?" Tre asked. I told him that he would be bored and that I wanted to catch up with Aud. He pouted.
"Don't give me that look. You have to annoy Billie while I'm gone." He smiled. We pulled into Audrey's driveway. Tre told me that I had better miss him. I reassured him that I would and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. Mike made a gagging noise and told us not to be lovey dovey around him so just in spite Tre and I kissed again.
"I love you Tre Tre," I said trying to annoy Mike.
"I love you more snookums," Tre said. Mike rolled his eyes and I got out of the car.
I saw Audrey sitting on the porch swing. She got up when I got to her and she hugged me tightly.
"I missed you so much," she exclaimed.
"I missed you too. I've spent the whole summer with Billie and Mike." I explained how my summer had been kind of boring.
"Who's the guy I saw you kissing in the car? Spill." Aud had been watching us from the porch.
"You're nosy," I said.
"Please tell me." I smiled and told her all about Tre and how we'd met. She was happy for me.
"How's your love life? Did you meet anyone in Texas?" I asked. She shook her head no.
"I'm still with Pete," She said sadly.
"Why are you still with him he's a jerk?"
"I know, I was hoping he'd dump me when I went away but he decided to pretend we were still together and cheat on me while I was gone."
Aud was never very good with boys she let them push her around. She had been with Pete for two years now and she wasn't happy.
"You should dump him," I said she nodded.
"I think I will. But he's better than nothing." She always felt like nobody could like her so she always threw herself at anyone who did even if they were jerks. She thought the world would come to an end if she didn't have someone so she never took time to find the right guy. A lot of guys like her but she always end up in a relationship where the guy uses her.
"There are lots of other guys who like you," I said.
"Like who?" She asked, not believing me.
"Mike has always liked you," I said. He told me once that he wanted to ask her out but she was in one of her many bad relationships so he couldn't. Aud smiled. She liked Mike too but was always afraid to tell him because she was afraid he would reject her.
"If you break up with Pete I will set you two up, but you should do it soon. Mike can't wait for you forever." She nodded and smiled.
"Next time I see Pete I'll break up with him." I was glad.
We both stood up from the swing and got into her beat up green Camaro.
"Do you really think Mike will go out with me?" She asked as we pulled out of her driveway.
"Of course he will and if he doesn't I'll beat him up." Aud laughed. We talked about random things like school and music. I told her how Green Day was getting really popular. I tried to think of other things to talk about but my mind kept wandering to Tre.
"Why can't I think of anything accept for Tre?" I asked.
"Do you love him?" she asked.
"Yes."
"That's why," she said
"Wow you're so much help," I said sarcastically.
"I try. Tell me more about him," She said.
"He is a drummer for a band called the Lookouts and he is really funny and sweet. He has the most amazing blue eyes and I love him," I said. She laughed at me.
"What?" I asked.
"You're lovesick."
"Shut up," I told her even though I knew she was right.
"Have you two gone all the way?" she asked.
"Yes," I said quietly, knowing that I would be asked twenty questions.
"Oh my god, when?" she practically yelled.
"This morning. Tre came over and we did."
I told her how Billie and Mike almost caught us. Aud burst out laughing.
"It's not funny; Tre thought Billie was going to kill him."
"Was it good?" she asked. I blushed and told her yes.
"Have you and Pete?" She nodded.
"Yeah, last year at a party. We were both really drunk."
"Do you regret it?" I asked.
"A little but I'm kind of glad I got it over with." I nodded.
"Do you regret it?" she asked.
"No, I really love Tre and am glad we did."
"Tre and Lisa sitting in a tree, F-U-C-K-I-N-G!" She sang.
"Shut up." She laughed at me and stopped.
"You and Mike are perfect for each other, that's something he would do," I said. She smiled.
We pulled into a parking spot. We decided to go to Hot Topic first. I pointed out the spot where Tre and I had first met.
"You are such a sap," She said.
"You're just jealous," I said and stuck my tongue out at her. We shopped for a while and I ended up buying some band tees and a new pair of jeans. I used some of the money I had got from my job babysitting. After we left Hot Topic we decided to go to the thrift store. It wasn't in the mall but was right next door. We looked through the aisles of old clothes. We both tried on some of the scary clothes and fooled around. I tried on an orange dress with sail boats on it; she tried on a pink mini skirt with blue dogs on it.
"I wonder why people got rid of these," I asked, pretending to like my dress.
She laughed and then she found a cool black skirt and went to try it on. I changed back into my clothes and went out to look at the jewelry while she changed. I saw two plain gold Irish clatter rings. I thought of Tre again. I decided to buy the rings because they were only fifteen dollars for both. Audrey came over me with the black skirt in hand it had fit her perfectly and she decided to buy it. She looked through the earrings on the rack beside the jewelry table and picked out some star ones. We paid for our stuff and decided to go to the food court. I got McDonald's and told her how Tre had gotten all the ketchup she laughed.
*Meanwhile At Billie's*
We drove back to Bill's house. Billie went to get some beer because he was the only one with a fake I.D. and he knew the guy at the liquor store. I had seen Mike staring at Audrey when we dropped Lisa off.
"You like Audrey don't you?" I said to Mike.
"No," he said unconvincingly.
"Yes you do. Mike and Audrey sitting in a tree..." I was cut off when Mike threw a pillow at me. What's his problem? I thought because it was the same thing he had done to me about Lisa earlier.
"Why don't you just ask her out?" I asked.
"She has a boyfriend," he replied.
"Oh that's too bad," I said feeling bad for him
"He doesn't love her or deserve her." I nodded and told him I was sorry for making fun of him. He told me it was okay. I could tell he really liked Audrey. I went back to watching TV but my mind wandered to Lisa. Now I know how Billie must have felt when he wrote Only of You about Adrienne. Billie came back with a twelve pack of beer and we all drank a little but not enough to get drunk.
*Lisa POV*
"It's always Tre this Tre that, does he know you're obsessed with him?" I laughed.
"Okay I won't talk about Tre. What classes are you taking this year?"
"I'm taking a child development lass and a music class," she answered.
"I'm taking a music class too, Music in America or something like that right?"
"Yeah, I hate school. I can't believe we only have 8 days left of summer," she sighed.
"Me too.Tre's transferring to our school. I'll ask him what classes he's taking."
"You're talking about him again," She said and laughed at me. I can't even go five minutes without talking about him. How pathetic am I?
"Shut up or I'll tell Mike you hate him and I'll set him up with someone else," I warned.
"You wouldn't do that," she said but then she shut up anyway. She sighed because I had brought up Mike.
"I am going to dump Pete right now," she said taking her cell phone out of her purse.
"You wouldn't," I said, shocked that she would break up with him over the phone. She nodded her head yes.
"I don't care if I'm being a bitch I'm dumping his ass over the phone."
She dialed the number and it rang a few times before going into voicemail. She simply stated that she wanted to see other people and that he was a jerk. I smiled at her, glad that she had finally stood up for herself and broke up with him. I invited her over to Billie's and she jumped at the chance to see Mike. We left the mall and drove over. As soon as I walked through the door I was tackled by Tre. I laughed and kissed him.
"Miss me much?" I asked pushing him off of me.
"Is it that obvious?" He asked. I nodded.
"Damn, I was trying to be discreet!" he exclaimed. I laughed at him and introduced him to Audrey. I had already told him about her earlier on the way to her house. We went into the living room where Billie and Mike were seated watching a movie. Bill waved at us acknowledging that we were there. Aud waved back at him and went to sit down on the couch beside Mike who had perked up when she entered the room.
"Hi Mike," She said, sounding a little nervous.
"Hi Aud," he said. "How have you been?"
"Pretty good, I just broke up with Pete."
"Oh, that's too bad," He said trying to hide his happiness. They were flirting and went to the kitchen to get drinks. I was sitting on the loveseat with Tre. His arm was around my shoulder and we were watching the made for TV movie that was on.
"I liked the part when they went into the graveyard and saw Beetlejuice. It was so cool," Tre said I nodded. I remembered Beetlejuice being a perv in that scene.
