Never Say Forever 'Cause Nothing Lasts, chapter 5

Hya Shithead!!
Y'know how I REALLY like Whatsername, but I haven't been able to tell her? Well I'm gonna tell her this afternoon. She's perfect and deserves to know that. So I wrote a song about her. It's called She's A Rebel.

She's a rebel,
She's a saint,
She's salt of the earth,
And she's dangerous.

She's a rebel,
Vigilante,
Missing link on the brink,
Of destruction.

From Chicago to Toronto,
She's the one that they,
Call old Whatsername.

She's the symbol,
Of resistance,
And she's holding on my,
Heart like a hand grenade.

Is she dreaming?
What I'm thinking?
Is she the mother of all bombs,
Gonna detonate?

Is she trouble?
Like I'm trouble?
Make it a double,
Twist of fate,
Or a melody that,

Sings the revolution,
The dawning of our lives.
She brings the liberation,
That I just cant define,
Nothing comes to mind.

She's a rebel,
She's a saint,
She's salt of the earth,
And she's dangerous.

She's a rebel,
Vigilante,
Missing link on the brink,
Of destruction.

She's a rebel, She's a rebel, She's a rebel, and she's dangerous
She's a rebel, She's a rebel, She's a rebel, and she's dangerous

What do you think?

...
Yeah I know. I haven't got a chance with a girl like her. But still, it's fun to imagine.

Ok, I gotta go now, I'm going to Tré's.
Later, ya dirty twat!
Hehe!!

Whatsername was walking home with the girl from self-esteem class who's name, Whatsername had learned, was Jane.
"So then after the role playing, next class, they put the girls and the guys in separate rooms, and a female counselor talks to us about body image," Jane explained with a sarcastically excited voice.
Whatsername raised an eyebrow. "What do they talk to the boys about?"
Jane smirked. "A classroom full of guys and a male teacher?"
Jane and Whatsername stopped walking and exchanged glances. "Nocturnal emissions."
"Never changes does it? At my last 7 schools, they put me in self-esteem classes. I know the test off by heart, I've taken the course about nine times. HA! I win! In your face!!"
Jane looked confused, "I don't get it; you've got the entire course memorized. How come you can't pass the test to get out? You've taken it enough times."
Whatsername smiled. "So have you. I can pass the test... but I like having low self-esteem. Makes me feel special."
Jane laughed and opened the front door to her house. "Welcome to your nightmare!"
Whatsername stepped inside and looked around. This place looked very familiar. Whatsername was just about to open her mouth to say something, when her thoughts were confirmed as a boy with green hair came stumbling down the stairs... in only a pair of boxers.
"Hi Tré," Whatsername said with a smirk.
Tré jumped and looked at Whatsername in shock. "Whatsername... hi. What're you doin' here?"
"Aren't I allowed to come to my boyfriend's house?" Whatsername said with a smile as Tré attempted to cover up. "Relax. I'm here with Jane. I don't give a shit what you do... even if it is jacking off." Whatsername frowned as she stared at him. "Ew."
She took a deep breath to try and hold her laughter in.
Tré smiled with a look of relief. "Hey Janey. Whatsername, Jane's my sister. Jane, Whatsername is my girlfriend."
Jane nodded and Whatsername could tell that she was trying not to laugh at her brother as he stood in front of them in his boxers! Whatsername grinned and nudged Jane in the ribs. Jane nodded at her and climbed the stairs, walking past Tré and feeling very awkward, once in Jane's room. The two girls burst out laughing.
Jane suddenly stopped and stared at Whatsername. "Holy crap! You're dating my brother?!"
Whatsername grinned. "Fuckin' hell, you're slow!"
Jane scowled and crossed her arms over her chest, sitting down on the bed and glaring and Whatsername. "See? This is why I have low self-esteem!"
"Whatever Janey." Whatsername smirked. She leaned over and flicked on the stereo. Punk music blasted from the speakers, "Yes! The girl has taste!!"
Jane laughed and turned on the TV. Commercials. Fuck.
Jane and Whatsername just talked and listened to music until the show came back on.
"Show's on," Whatsername said.
Jane turned the stereo off and lay down on the bed next to Whatsername, staring at the TV.
Tonight on 'Sick and Sad' a guy who claims to have been probed by aliens! The TV blared and crossed to a reporter "So Lionel, you claim to have been abducted by aliens." The camera panned over to a boy with curly orange hair, braces and pimples. He grinned, "That's right Sandra. They beamed me up in their spaceship outside the monthly UFO convention. I was stripped and they probed me. Then they pressed my pants. Did a good job too... "
Jane reached out and pressed the mute button on the TV before turning to Whatsername. "You've got all the notes from esteem class right?"
"Somewhere." Whatsername shrugged.
"Let's take the test," Jane suggested.
"Yeah but... how would I spend my afternoons?" Whatsername pointed out.
"UFO conventions?" Jane raised an eyebrow.
Whatsername sniggered. "Now you're talking!"
The two girls burst out laughing again.
"Yeah!" Jane gasped. "Lets go hang out with the nerds!"
"Anything to get away from my parents for a while!" Whatsername laughed then stopped and suddenly demanded. "What time is it?"
Jane kept laughing.
"C'mon, Jane. Seriously, I need to know the time!"
Jane stopped laughing, and with a frown, she checked her watch. "6:45."
"Shit shit shit shit shiit!!" Whatsername leapt to her feet.
"What?"
"I was supposed to be home 45 minutes ago. Mom and Brad'll kill me!" She panicked.
"God! Calm down!" Jane said, "It's just 45 minutes, you won't get in that much trouble."
"You don't know my mom and her stupid asshole of a husband!" Whatsername threw open Jane's bedroom door. "See ya tomorrow, Jane." She ran out the door and down the stairs.
Just as Whatsername was reaching for the door handle, someone covered her eyes from behind. "Guess who!"
"Tré, I seriously don't have the time right now." Whatsername sighed.
"How didja know it was me?" Tré sounded disappointed.
"Does it really matter?! I have to go!" Whatsername practically screamed.
Tré recoiled and said in a very small voice. "Okay."
Whatsername looked at him with pity and smiled, she gave him a long kiss just as Billie Joe entered the room. His jaw dropped.
Whatsername pulled away and smiled. She quickly said goodbye and ran out into the night.
Billie was speechless.
"What was that?" he asked as Tré shut the front door and walked up the stairs and into the room where Billie was crashing for the night.
"What do you mean?" Tré said with a confused frown. "I was just kissing my girl."
Billie gaped wordlessly, "Your girl?!" he finally managed to get out. "Since when?"
"Since that detention we all had together where Whatsername took everyone up to the roof of the gym. We got talking and now...yeah," Tré explained with a dreamy smile and then raised an eyebrow. "Is that jealousy I can sense in your voice, Billie Joe?"
"No! Course not!" Billie answered quickly, knowing full well, that it was.
***
Whatsername opened the door and shut it behind her as quietly as she could. Silently, she crept across the dark room to the stairs.
The lights snapped on!
"And just where have you been?" a voice sounded from behind her, the words slurred.
Whatsername froze dead in her tracks. "Shit... "
She turned around to see her mother and stepfather standing in the middle of the lounge.
"Well?" Brad spat, "Out with it! Where've you been? Your mom's been worried sick! Not to mention how anxious I was! You were supposed to be home by 6:00 at the latest to take care of Alex! That was an hour ago!"
Whatsername rolled her eyes. Alex was her half sister, born four years ago. She looked at Brad with disgust as he ran a hand through his short dirty-blonde hair and cast a look of repulsion over Whatsername.
She despised him in every aspect and loathed him with a passion that could only be matched by Brad's hate for Whatsername.
"I've been with some friends." Whatsername muttered.
"Friends?" Whatsername's mother scoffed, "You don't have any friends! You're too much of a weirdo to even get anyone to talk to you!"
"For all you know." Whatsername mumbled under her breath, "Just 'cause I got a life-"
"What did you just say?!" Brad shouted. "Don't you ever, ever talk back!" he marched towards Whatsername, who instinctively threw her arms up in front of her face. "You little slut!!"
Her face felt hot. Whatsername lowered her arms and stared at him, her face right by his, his breath was foul. "What?!" she asked in a furious whisper.
"You heard me. You're a slut!" Brad hissed, "I've seen you with those boys. I know what you've been doing!"
Her mother stood beside Brad. "Are you telling me," she stared from Brad to her daughter. "That my daughter isn't even a virgin?!"
Brad nodded.
Whatsername's mother looked as though she was about to be sick as she looked at her daughter "After all I've ever done for you. The clothes on your back, the roof over your head, the food you eat... "
"The bruises all over my body." Whatsername cut in.
"And THIS is how you repay me?! You little whore!" she spat ignoring her comment.
"She's been hanging out with three fags from that school," Brad said, making Whatsername madder and madder, "I've seen them. The way that girl acts, she's practically begging for it-"
(*CRASH*)
Whatsername had released her pain and rage... by punching her stepfather and knocking him to the floor. He lay on the floor clutching his bleeding head and yowling in pain. It was clear his jaw was broken.
"How DARE you!" her mom screeched, "Why would you ever do that?!"
"Because that fucking asshole cunt you married is the reason I'm not a virgin!!" Whatsername screamed in her mother's face, "Your 'perfect husband' fucking raped me!"
(*SLAP*)
Blood trickled from the split in Whatsername's cheek. She stared in a stunned silence at her mother, who had just slapped her.
"I never loved you," her mom whispered, "You were just a mistake. A problem. And that's all you'll ever be."
Whatsername looked from her mother's cold, hard gaze to the man rolling in agony on the floor then back up to her mom as more blood and tears seeped from her face.
"You deserve this." with those final words to her mom, Whatsername turned and ran up the stairs, her mother close behind her.
Whatsername ran through to doorway that led to her and Alex's bedrooms and slammed the door, locking it behind her.
She looked around the room to see the scared four year old girl sitting in the corner of the room, her knees pulled up to her chest and her large brown eyes full of fear.
"No-one deserves this," Whatsername mumbled to herself. She knew that Alex had gone through the same things from Brad as she had, even though she was Brad's biological daughter.
Whatsername walked over to her sister's side as her mother pounded on the locked door.
"It's ok Al," Whatsername whispered to the frightened girl. "We're getting out of here. We're leaving this place forever."
Alex looked up at her half sister's face and nodded.
"Good girl, get your stuff and we'll get out of here." Whatsername crossed the room and pulled the bag out from under the bed, cramming her CD's inside and zipping it up again.
They both always had a ready packed bag for getting out for the night when Brad and their mother got abusive, but they never thought they would be leaving home with it... forever.
Whatsername picked up her guitar and slipped her cell phone into her pocket.
Carefully, she threw her bag out the window where it landing safely on the soft ground below as the thuds on the door got louder. Alex had her backpack slung over both shoulders and Whatsername slipped an arm through the strap of her guitar case and positioned it securely on her back.
The crashing against the door was louder and louder. Whatsername picked up Alex and held her carefully with one arm, slipping out the window to the tree branch outside. They got to the ground and Alex planted both feet on the grass. Whatsername picked up her bag and heard her mother scream in frustration from their old room.
It seems she had gotten into their room and was horrified about their escape. Whatsername took one last look through the windows of the house that had been her hell and saw Brad still writhing in pain on the floor. She smiled with satisfaction and grabbed Alex's hand.
They ran off down the street into the darkness...
