J.A.R., chapter 12

Jason didn't want to speak of the events that had come out that day, so he just acted as if nothing happened. He knew word of this would flood through the school, but he would just keep his mouth shut from now on. He didn't need anymore drama going on since he was already up to his shoulders in different activities, mostly involved with Mike. Jason had been going to the library frequently now, looking for Mike's parents on all these different websites. He knew Mike had been going around a bit as well. During school for the past week, Mike would walk off campus during lunch, go back to the hospital where he was born, and look through admittable files. Files about what time he was born, sonagrams, paper work that didn't involve the name of the mother and/or father.

Jason had kept that quiet because technically Mike was still grounded. He laughed at that, thinking to himself, Jesus, that kid gets himself into deeper shit everyday. Which fairly, wasn't a lie. Mike still had a week to go till he was free. Jason kept walking home, thinking about Mike had become his whole life when he went on walks, worrying about him, wondering about him, mostly what the hell was going through that kids mind. He also laughed about what had gone on at school earlier that day. I'm gonna' get him into so much trouble with Ollie...well if she finds out that is.

Mike was looking out the window, as the musty car that Allen was driving came to a hault. Stepping onto the driveway, he thought to himself I'll just keep my mouth shut. No one will find out...except for the whole damn school! Mike walked into the house, walked up the stairs, and straight to his room. Being grounded was starting to suck major ass.

A knock on the door brought him out of his thoughts, "Wha..." came his response.

Ollie stepped into his room, "Mike, I got this letter in the morning. I think you'll be very pleased." Eyebrows furrowed, he took the un-opened letter, and gently slipped his finger under the crease,

"Jesus! Could you take any longer here grandma?" With that Mike stopped and burst out laughing, "Sorry... I'm nervous."

Ollie rested her hands on her hips, "You don't even know what it's for, just open it already!" She sat down on his bed, as he ripped open the envelope.

Mike's eyes widened. It was a letter from his biological mother. Life stood still. Tears rolled down his cheek, and his vision blurred. Squinting, he started reading the letter aloud:

Dear Michael,

Through the grapevine, I have heard that you are searching for your real parents. I could not just sit here and pretend that I didn't know what was going on. In truth, I have had numerous phonecalls and emails from the hospital and from a Jason Relva. I believe I have been caught and I must confess to you, I am the person you have been looking for this whole time. I am sorry that I couldn't find you before, but I was hoping we could meet up. I'll give you my number so that you can reach me, (305)-555-5555 and again, I am sorry.

Love,
Your mother, Kathy,
