'Cause Our Love Will Light The Way, chapter 7

I rubbed my eyes, and opened them. Jakob was still asleep. Poor baby, he was probably really jetlagged. He and the band had only got home for good from touring yesterday. I kissed the tip of his nose, and his eyes flickered open. "Good morning," he said, grinned lazily.
"Morning," I said. I kissed his lips, before he shut his eyes again. I got up and dressed. I walked back to the bed and leaned my thighs against the mattress. I threw back the doona on my side and looked at the sheets, wondering if we needed to clean them after last night. There were blood stains on the sheets. I groaned, and then gasped. Jakob lifted his head and looked at me, a little more awake now. "What's wrong?" he asked.
"We just had unprotected sex! And I have my period!" I fretted.
"Soooo . . ."
"So I'm probably going to be pregnant," I said.
"Really? That's great!" Jakob said, heaving himself up. He crawled over to the side of the bed I was standing at, and wrapped his arms around my waist, his cheek resting against my stomach. I ran my fingers through his hair and sighed. He pulled back when he heard that.
"What's wrong hunny?" he asked, looking up at me.
I couldn't find the right words. "I. . . I just. .I'm just . . . not ready to have another baby, I guess,"
"You don't want another child?" he croaked. A confused look spread across his face.
"What's wrong with the one we've got?" I retorted.
"Nothing. . . I just thought that we were going to have more children. . ." he trailed off, his face saddened.
"Well, if I AM pregnant, then I guess we will be having another child," I said.
"But what if you're not? We'll still be having more children then, won't we?" he asked, with a hint of desperation in his voice.
"I don't know . . . maybe," I said, looking anywhere but at him.

We dropped Meeka off at Mona's house and headed to the chemist to purchase a test. We drove in silence, until we reached the traffic lights, where he turned in his seat to face me fully.
"Would having another kid be THAT bad?" he asked me, the hurt clear in his voice.
"Oh- I . . . Jakob, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it like that. Another child would be a blessing, really,"
"You mean that?" he asked. I shrugged one shoulder and shut my eyes briefly before opening them and looking at Jakob.
"Yeah," I said nodding. I did want another baby, truly. Well, I thought, anyway. It was just that life was perfect the way it was right now. I didn't want change; I wasn't ready for change.

He parked the car, and ran out to open my door for me. Hand in hand we walked into the chemist. I wondered down isle three, while Jakob went down the back of the shop somewhere. I took a pregnancy test off the shelf, and, deciding it was good enough, we purchased it.
I was just about to walk out the door, until Jakob nudged me. I spun around. "What?"
"There's a toilet over there, let's do it now," he said, pointing somewhere at the back of the store.
"No! We'll do it when we get home," I said.
"I can't wait that long," he whined, tugging on my arm.
I rolled my eyes, smiling slightly. He was so impatient. "Fine."

Jakob's POV

We entered the ladies room, but not without receiving a dirty look from the check out chick. Emily went in the last stall, and I leaned back on the counter, tapping my fingernails impatiently. I glanced around the room. The pea green paint was peeling off the dingy walls, and I was sure that the moldy brown tiles underneath my feet had once been white. Em came out of the stall and placed the stick face down on the side of the sink.
"Face down?" I enquired.
"I want it to be a surprise," she said.
"How long do we have to wait?"

"Five minutes," she said, walking up to me. She placed her palms on the mirror behind me, either side of my torso. I looked at her for a second, taking in every inch of her body, wanting her. Slowly, my hands moved to cradle her hips, pulling her closer towards my body, never breaking our eye contact. She intertwined her arms around my neck, and brought her lips briefly upon mine, before resting her head on my shoulder. I moved my hands to her ass and pushed her hips gently forwards, grounding my hips with hers. "Dirty babe," she laughed.

I smiled mischievously and kissed her smooth neck. It smelled faintly of the vanilla body butter she used religiously. She brought her face to mine, and I kissed her hard on the lips. Explosions erupted in my head; only this lady here could make me feel like this. Her hands ran through my hair. I swiftly pivoted, still holding onto her, so that I was pinning her against the counter. I never broke our kiss. I pressed every inch of my body against hers, wanting to get closer still. She placed a hand on my chest, making my heart jolt with just a single touch. She pulled back.
"Baby, we're in a chemist toilet, let's save it for later," she whispered. I nodded, fully aroused now. I got off her, and she walked over to the sink where the test had been placed. I looked at Emily through the mirror.
"Do you think it's time?" I asked her. She nodded.
"You wanna do it?" she asked me nervously.
"Yeah. . ." I said, reaching over her shoulder and picking up the stick. It was still face down. I looked at her through the mirror. "You ready?" I asked her.
She nodded. "Yep." I turned the stick over, and slowly gasped. I picked Emily up and swung her around, laughing. "I'm gonna be a father again!" I said excitedly, setting her back on the ground. She beamed, and I picked her up again, hugging her. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
