Liberals smoke lettuce too (written by my best friend Ryan), chapter 1

Beep... . Beep... . Beep... . Beep.. CLICK!

I hit the off button on my Betty Boop alarm clock and popped out of bed. I walked in my bathroom and started the water in my shower so it would get hot. For the first time in a while, I looked around my bathroom.

My toilet seat was covered with a furry pink cover that matched my rugs and my sheer pink shower curtains. I stepped in the shower and washed my hair with my lilac scented shampoo... ..my absolute favorite. After I was done in the shower I got out and wrapped a towel around me. I quickly blow dried my blonde hair and straightened it. My mom knocked and came in.

"Hey beautiful," she said with a smile.
"Today's the big day huh?"

"Yeah. Oh My Gosh mom I'm so excited!" I squealed.

What about you ask? Well, today I was gonna find out who made the home coming court at my high school and all signs pointed to me being the Junior Class Queen!!! YAY!!!

"Do you need me to help with your make-up sweetie?" My mom asked getting all excited.

She looked just like she had when we found the biggest sale at the mall last Friday.

"Totally! Would you really!?" My mom is a great make-up applier.

"Of course, it's your big day." She giggled happily.

With my towel still around me, I sat down on my bed and turned my face up towards her. She got out her pink eye shadow ,which I absolutely adored, and other make-up and started working. After she was done with my make-up, I turned and looked in the mirror.

"You look even more glorious!" My mom said as she started to cry tears of joy.
"Oh! You need to get dressed!" She gasped as she glanced at her watch and wiped away her tears.

I watched my mom walk out of the room and I walked over to my closet. I pulled out my favorite purple blouse and my blue jean mini skirt. All my clothes come from the best stores! Actually, I don't know how we afford this stuff. My mom works two jobs just to put food on the table but we live in a two story house and every time I want something we seem to have enough money. Krazy isn't it? Anyways, I quickly slipped on my favorite Birkenstocks and rushed over to my dresser.

As I put on my jewelry, I couldn't help but notice how much I resemble my mom. I had the same color hair, the same freckles across my "cute little nose", as my mom would say, my teeth were straight, "a blessing to the women in our family", and my head was round and my ears fit perfectly on it. The only difference is my eyes. Hers are a dark brown, while mine are crystally green.

"Come on, you don't want to be late!" I heard my mom call from down stairs. I quickly brushed my teeth and ran down stairs.

I quickly brushed my teeth and ran down stairs. I stopped at the bottom and she stared at me with tear filled eyes. I smiled at her and we walked outside and got inside her Benz, another one of those mysterious money mysteries, usually I would drive in my baby blue mustang convertible but today was a special day.

WHEN WE GOT TO MY SCHOOL

"By baby, call me as soon as you find out," She said as I stepped out of the car to meet my boyfriend Steven, Senior! Captain of the Hockey Team, at the flagpole in front of my school.

"Hi Mrs. Haley, don't worry I'll make sure she remembers to call you first thing," he laughed.

"You better Steven, bye baby," My mom smiled at me & drove away.

"Well don't you look absolutely gorgeous," he kissed me on the cheek as I took his arm.

"Thanks, hun, now let's go find out before I explode with excitement."

We walked into the office and up to the bulletin board where about a million girls were gathered around. I squeezed my way to the front and grippe Steven's hand tighter and tighter as I ran my eyes down the list for "junior queen":

Home Coming Court
Kings
Freshman: Lance Blake
Sophomore: Caleb Underling
Junior: Michael Drifts

I stopped reading and turned my head to Steven.

"Good, Michael will be a nice king," I said to him.
"Of course, he could never be the king of my heart," I laughed and Steven smiled. I continued to read:

Senior: Steven McNeil
I screamed and hugged Steven's neck.

"Come on, keep reading let's find out already!" He laughed.

I turned my head back to the list:

Queens
Freshmen: Caitlyn Barrick
Sophomore: Samantha McNeil
Junior: Marlena Rodriguez
Senior: Alison Everglade

"Alright! You and Sam made it," Steven exclaimed.
For Your Info: Sam is Steven's little sister
"What's wrong?" He asked as he saw the expression on my face.

"Look who's senior queen," I frowned.
"Alison Everglade."

"Oh, babe," He sighed.
"You don't actually think I care about her do you? Come on, that was three years ago."

For Your Info again: Alison was Steven's ex-girlfriend, the one right before me. She's also head cheerleader, it might not be a big deal to some, but at our school, it does.

"Yeah, I know. It's just..." I broke off.

"Don't worry, it's not her I love," he smiled and kissed me on the forehead.
"Hey, don't you need to call your mom?"

"Oh My Gosh! I almost forgot," I pulled out my cell phone and quickly pressed memory 1.

"Haley Rodriguez here," I heard her voice say.

"I got it!" I exclaimed happily.

"Oh my gosh! What like a total surprise! Stupid teenie," a 'punk' girl named Ashelie called from behind me.

"Hold on mom, I'll call you back," I said as I rolled my eyes at Ashelie.

"Alright, hurry up though," she seemed to be crying happy tears again.

I hung up and turned to Ashelie. Steven was close behind.

"You know what? I don't know what a 'teenie' is... "

"Oh what a surprise," she interrupted with a laugh.

"Whatever. You know what? If you'd actually get contacts and wore bright colors instead of all the dark Goth colors you do wear, you could have a chance at queen too. It would probably help if you added some normal colors to your hair and maybe brushed it," I smiled contently as I flipped my own hair.

"Oh yes, because my goal in life is to become queen at a shitty high school that no one will probably even remember in fours years, look like a stupid trashy teenie, and have some meathead... jockstrap boyfriend," She rolled her black covered eyes in mimic of me and walked away.

"Don't listen to hear, she's weird anyway. Maybe you should just call your mom back," Steven shrugged Ashelie's comment off.

"Yeah okay, like I care what she thinks anyways," I hit memory 1 on my cell phone again and heard the familiar voice.

"I'm so proud! I love you," she said happily.

I heard a car shriek. Her phone was breaking up but I heard her yelling.

"This prick just ran a red light!" She started crying hard.

She screamed. I kept hearing cars screeching and her yelling.

"I love you baby," I heard her say through static...her phone went dead.
