A Change of life. A Change of Heart., chapter 2

Recap
I stopped running breathing heavily and sat down on the swing. It was stifling hot and I hadn't had anything to eat or drink. I held onto the swing and closed my eyes and swung back and forth gently, tears rolling slowly down my cheek.
-End recap-

I started to feel dizzy. I groaned and fell off the swing, landing on my front.
I heard footsteps approaching.
"Are you O.K?" I heard a small voice ask.
I didn't say anything, I just groaned again.
"DADDY!" I heard the footsteps run away.
They returned a few seconds later along with another pair.
Someone bent down beside me.
"Hey, are you alright?" I heard a man's voice ask.
I didn't say anything I was too tired.
"Where do you live?"
Nothing...
"What's your name?"
"Amber," I mumbled.
"O.K, Amber, I'm just gonna help you up, O.K?"
I nodded.
"Daddy, what's wrong with her?"
"I don't know Jake, just be quiet O.K?"
I felt a pair of arms lift me up onto my feet. I staggered a little but he steadied me.
"You O.K?"
I shook my head violently and then blacked out...

My eyes snapped open and I sat up.
"Where the hell am I?" I said to myself.
I looked around; I was lying on a couch in a huge living room.
I pulled my phone out my pocket.

12 missed calls
7 text messages

I sighed and stuffed the phone back in my pocket. The living room door opened and a little boy ran in.
"Oh, you're awake... MOMMY!" he yelled.
"Jakob, I warned you not to shout." a woman with dreadlocks came into the room.
"Sorry mommy."
The woman came up to me.
"How are you feeling?" she asked.
"Uh... confused..." I mumbled.
"Do you remember what happened?"
"Vaguely, I'm just wondering, are you who I think you are?" I asked.
"I'm Adrienne," she said.
"Oh snap," I whispered.
She smiled.
"I'm Amber," I said.
"Yes, Billie said," she laughed when she saw my face at the mention of Billie Joe, "Where do you live Amber?" she asked.
"I ran away, I'm not going back," I said stubbornly.
"Why?" she asked frowning.
I don't know what made me do it but I ended up telling Adrienne everything, from never knowing my dad but knowing I had his eyes, to coming to live with my Grandparents.
She just let me talk until I was finished, nodding when appropriate.
"Well, it seems to me that your mom is having a lot of trouble at home, and if you hate your grandparents so much, have you ever considered trying to find your dad?" she asked calmly.
"I wish I could, but no one will ever tell me anything about him except that he has blue eyes and that he left to work on his band," I sighed.
"Try talking to your mom again, try reasoning with her, or at least find out his name," said Adrienne picking up a phone and handing it to me.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive," she said standing up, "I'll be back soon."
"Thank you."
"No problem," she smiled and left.
I dialled my home number.
RING RING, RING RING, RING RI-...
"Hello?"
"Mom?"
"Amber! Oh thank God! How dare you run away like that!"
"Mom?"
"Yes Amber?" she sighed irritably.
"Who's my dad?" I asked.
"Amber, no! Do not start this, not now!"
"Mom! I need to know! Please! At least tell me his name!"
I kept on and on at her, pleading her, begging her and eventually she told me.
I dropped the phone on the floor, and it landed with a clatter.
"Amber? AMBER?" I heard my mom's voice shout.
I picked up the phone with trembling hands.
"I have to go now mom," I whispered, "Bye."
"Amber! Wait... "
I hung up.
My breathing became sharp and laboured. I was having a panic attack.
I tried hard to take deep slow breaths but it wasn't working.
I needed help; I prayed someone would find me before I blacked out.
I heard the living room door open.
"Uh oh," a man's voice said.
Billie Joe rushed over to me and rubbed my back.
"Count back from 10 slowly," he said.
I nodded.
"10... 9... " I gasped.
"8... 7... 6... " Billie Joe counted with me.
By the time I was at two, I'd calmed down and was breathing easily again.
"Are you alright?" he asked.
"I-I don't know," I stammered.
Adrienne came back in to the room.
"Amber, sweetie, are you O.K?" she asked.
"I found her half way through a panic attack," said Billie.
"Did you talk to your mom?" asked Adie
I nodded.
"What did she say... did you find out about your dad?" she asked.
I nodded.
"I asked her and she wouldn't say, but I kept on and on and she told me who... " I felt tears form in my eyes.
I blinked furiously, wiping my eyes.
"What's his name? Maybe we can find him?" suggested Billie.
"I don't believe her, it's just too unlikely, it's impossible," I cried.
"Who is he?" persisted Adrienne.
I took a deep breath.
"His name is Michael...Michael Pritchard."
