A Green Day Story, chapter 3

"So...uh...how old are you?" Billie Joe asked, trying to strike up some conversation.
"Uh...seventeen." I responded slowly, looking around as we reached the coffee shop. Billie Joe opened the door and held it open for me as I walked in. "Thanks."
"No prob." We walked over to the line and waited our turn to get some stuff. "We're the same age. Maybe you'll go to the same school as me."
"Yeah, that would be neat." I smiled. We finally reached the counter and I leaned against it. "I would like a chocolate chip frappucino." I ordered and took out a couple of dollar bills that had been shoved into my pocket. Billie Joe put his hand over mine.
"Don't worry. I'll pay." He offered and smiled down to me. I smiled back as he ordered some coffee. They handed us our stuff and we sat outside on a bench.
"How long have you been living here?" I asked him. I took a sip of my frap.
"My whole life. Later on I'll introduce you to my two best friends, Mike and Tre."
"Cool."
"Yeah. We're in a band and we play local gigs a lot." He bragged. I smiled and took another sip. I sighed and look down at my feet.
"I had two best friends back in Miami. They're names were Ashley and Kyle. They were...amazing. We did EVERYTHING together. I loved them, they were like family." I smiled, reminiscing upon their faces, remembering the good times we shared. And how I may never see them again...
"They must've taken it hard when you moved." Billie said sympathetically.
"Yeah..." I said, forcing back tears. "They were devastated. Ashley cried and Kyle refused to even look at me. After school, I gave them both a hug, and told them I'd call them or mail them ASAP."
"Okay...subject change?" Billie asked and laughed.
"Yeah...." I laughed as well. We just sat and talked for a while about everything.
