About
I’m Samantha aka Sammie. 19. Immunology and Virology student at The University of Edinburgh, Scotland. I love Scotland, proud to be Scottish and an independence supporter. I hope to graduate in 2013 with my Masters Degree in Immunology and pursue a career in Autoimmunological medical research. I love university life, exploding sinks, foot high potato growths, leg rashes, playing tennis in hallways at 4am, setting dorm kitchens on fire. I enjoy the chaos.
I love music, reading, writing and travelling fourteen hours on a coach to see bands I love. Storm chasing, I am a registered severe weather spotter for SKYWARNUK and will be going to America to storm chase in 2011.
Upcoming shows:
Jack’s Mannequin – 31st Aug, Glasgow
Bowling For Soup - 17th Oct, Glasgow
Green Day - 19th Oct, Glasgow.
Green Day - 24th Oct, London
Elliot Minor - 26th Nov, Aberdeen.
Elliot Minor - 27th Nov, Dundee.
Elliot Minor - 28th Nov, Edinburgh.
Green Day - 16th June, Manchester
Green Day - 19th June, London
I’m going to the Glasgow Green Day show on my own and turning out EARLY AS FUCK to que if you are going give me a shout!

It's pretty much like that at Strathclyde as well with the biomedical degrees. The only acception is the forensic and pharmacology degress who have extra classes on top on the basic biomed ones. This is the first year where it has been different. Pam, who is the immunology one has had identical timetables to me just the one or two forensic classes I had missing

I had a whole load of chem a and b in first year as well! I too am looking forward to my classes this year, mine are Fundamental Immunology,Fundamentals of pharmacology, molecular genetics (But I LOVE genetics!) forensic statistics and communication and investiagtive forensic biology (Can't wait for this one!)
The way it works on my course is the order you rank with you grades in 3rd year is the order you get to pick your honours project so I plan on being top so I can pick from the full range! I was top this year so I don't see why it not happening again this year lol

We did that too!!!!!!!! Pharmacogenomics...my lecturer referenced Star Trek a lot during that time haha!
I just finished my 2nd year, watch out for the 2nd semester slump, it hits hard! I know how you felt with the organic chem, I was the very same. I also had this class Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism and I swear, I think the university was doing and experiment with that class to see if it was possible to actually die of boredom!!!!
I wish I could move out but not even my student loan covers the rent of living in Glasgow city centre - seriously insane real estate markets here!
I don't go back till October, feels like forever just now! And I love too much coursework, still complain though haha. Strathclyde has this thing called Spider, where the classes uploaded lecture notes and quizes and stuff, you'll prob have an equivalent, anyway I've started taking notes for this years classes already cause it all comes down to your grades in 3rd year!!!

Well, you can imagine the looks I get when I explain my career choice haha! You like chemistry? I had to do organic chemistry last semester and it nearly killed me! The whole reason I'm specialising in biology is cause I hate chemistry haha
In my first year I took an introduction to immunology as an elective and really enjoyed it so I was happy to find that it was compulsory from there on in. So if you ever feel like a geek fest then let me know, I'll geek away with you!
How ridiculously long is the summer break??? It's driving my insane, I can't wait to go back. Is it your 2nd year you're going into?
Bones, August 15th, 2009 at 12:46:04pm
Oh yes, Helensburgh, know it well...ok I don't but I have been there, once haha
And thanks, I'm glad you enjoy! I do make sure my science is accurate, I could not have it any other way. I have a medical one as well, as an immunologist you may also enjoy this hinthint lol.
I have to do a lot of immunology as part of my course so I can see your fascination with it

coolio! Always good to strengthen our numbers! I absolutely love the forensic biology course! Top of the year btw, so I'm a total nerd haha
Are you from Glasgow orginally?
