Elliot Minor – Cockpit 19th May

Now, I know that it was in May, and it’s now June, but I wanted to wait for this video which I knew was coming, thanks to the fact that they told us as the concert. I can point myself out several times and that makes me so happy, as it feels like i'm reliving it all over again.

But on to the concert:On the 19th May, I arrived at the cockpit, ready for this moment; Elliot Minor, Shibby and *Armstrong. We were at the first date of the Elliot Minor tour, Shibby were accompanying them for the academies and *Armstrong were just on this one.

The Cockpit
The main venue room is only small. The stage is tiny and the actual floor space is only about 5 x 15m, with a store at the back. Imagine it as a giant mosh pit.

Shibby
First on and boy were they amazing. They understood that not everyone knew them and tried to interact with the crowd, stopping at points to tell us the words. Half the time they darted across the stage, it was hard to keep track of these guys. They encouraged a huge mosh pit and us all to scream, I’m sure we could have been heard backstage, after all it’s only a small venue. After the show, I met these guys; real fan friendly guys.

*Armstrong
Local Boys, Leeds born, and they clearly played that to their advantage. The only active one was Tim, the lead singer. He crowd surfer and climbed on the walls. Since they were the act before Elliot Minor they felt obliged to get us to scream, but they didn’t encourage the ‘punch pit’ of the mosh pit. [Encase you don’t know, what they described as the punch bit is the most violent part of the mosh pit, where you’ll most likely get killed]. Like with Shibby, they came out after the show, but weren’t as nice as Shibby.

Elliot Minor
Psychopathic; the one word to describe the crowd. As you can see from above, the crowd were amazingly loud. They pretty much stayed rather stationary, but they told jokes, made the crowd laugh and encourage sing alongs, Dan [drummer] kept throwing out random sticks, which of course made the crowd go wild. After the show, they didn’t come out, but I’d say that was smart, with the amount of young girls they would have been ripped to shreds.

It was amazing. I’d go see any of them live again. Elliot Minor are currently on tour and I’d recommend trying to see them, Shibby are at the academies on tour with them and *Armstrong haven’t got any dates lined up, sadly, but do random shows around Leeds.
