It's not just courses, but it is everything. Could you imagine how boring it must be to work on crafting? Gotta make that new healthy part with all the new peace bloom and the brand new vial. What is it gonna look like? Oh WOW TBC Classic Gold it is a red bottle with some gold shit on it or something.
I recall in Legion when I first had this thought. Two months to Legion I had been playing together after the narrative in Legion and suddenly to last a questline I needed to perform a mythic dungeon of a particular difficulty. It was not designed for a casual encounter.
It stinks because I remember when they executed raid finder as a means of creating lower difficulty content so people might experience the story without having to be more of a'hardcore' participant. Suddenly fundamental outdoor quests required content that is competitive.
It was an un-ashamed, intentionally designed measure intended to stop my progression in undergoing the story. I got it done after two weeks of attempting while doing other things, but two weeks later I stopped logging in and have not looked back since.
Once I perished in Torgast because of a random assassin debuff thing that I logged out for the last moment. All this anger to only get 10 min of narrative. It is better for my mental health to watch some YouTube outline or walkthrough. WoW isn't something for a casual such as me.
I changed to ESO. It's not ideal, but I can have as much story as I want in my own pace and the dialogs are even voice listened.
If they just gave us crazy power in there where we mow down groups it would not be quite as bad. Instead it's mostly crap, a few that are crap unless you receive the right two or three skills, and a couple more thay are great. Nothing really spec altering either.
The crazy part about WoW for me is that the usage of the PTR to check expansions and patches using gamers. It's essentially free labour by gamers. I am aware that Torghast from the alpha was quite popular with pretty much ever WoW content founder I followed. Yet they rather carved out the majority of the fun bits, forced players to go through it for yet another currency, and cheap Burning Crusade Classic Gold then had to go back and nerf it since they had added in random affixes which were very unpopular.
