Church: Is attempting to brainwash.
People say that when you hit your teens it becomes easier and you can plan your life the way you want it.But that isn't the case, when you got to church apparantly there is rules that must be followed and some people will follow them and others won't. I began to think about how the world is and what state of minds are these people are in who call themselves "holy people" don't do what they want but they do exactly what the church tells them to do.
The bible has stories of Jesus and the miracles and things like that, and apparantly there is answers to every day problems. I hate to tell everyone, I looked and I found no answers only a condradictions. The things that are supposed to make sense actually didn't, I mean how can someone compare life to what happened 2000 years ago. When I was a child I went to church, I was baptized and went to sunday school every single week without fail. Then when I got older I started to sit in the church where the sermons and everything took place, I got confused and didn't question anythying and started to believe that I had to prove everything to god. But when I got even older I started to loose faith, but I couldn't tell anyone because these people really believed that God was there for them, through thick and thin. Maybe its true, maybe he was there but he wasn't there for me.
Before my father died I prayed and prayed that he would be okay, but he died shortly afterwards. It was unfair that he died and my family was left in ruins. My mother continues to go to church and often tries to make me go, but I can't face it and there is alot of reasons why. And its not because I am angry at god for taking my dad away.
During the Sermons the minsiter or vicar will talk about the readings and relate them in to day's society. One which really annoyed me was expectations.
There is expectations in every day life, we all know that but there is more from the church than there has ever been, the church is still in 20th centuary and they need to modernise. Look at the people who go to church, its mostly old people and when they die there will be no members because they alienate people who don't fit their criteria.
I went to church yesterday to see if I could regain my faith, but it didn't happen.
God wants us to be good christians who don't doubt his word or power, well I did and thats maybe why he hates me. But hey I can deal with it.
If god was all loving why has he let so many things in the world happen, children have gone missing, pedo's are on the loose and oggling kids. Doesn't he see what a messed up world we live in, in the bible it talks about inner strength and following Jesus. But how do we know that jesus didn't smoke weed, I mean they wouldn't have known what it was. I got told that I needed to see the light, the light which god apparantly gave us and I'm not trying to diss anyone who believes in god but he is supposed to be all loving and kind and accepts people for who they are. But we all know thats bullshit, people who go to church now a days judge, alienate and disgrace the younger generation for being who they are. If they see a group of kids walking down the street, they instantly think that they are going to cause trouble.
THE BRAINWASH
Personally I think the church is trying to brainwash everyone, if not trying already have. They say that we must do this to please him.
I see what your saying because I've felt the same way for years. I wasn't always like that. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a nun! But then, I saw the way people in town acted and how they felt about religion and it upset me. It was like they were using God to isolate themselves from everybody that didn't think like they did. I still believe in a higher power, though. I just don't agree with my neighbors and peers.

My girlfriend's folks want us to get married and bring the baby up in a proper home, its like they are taking over.

"God wants us to be good christians who don't doubt his word or power, well I did and thats maybe why he hates me. But hey I can deal with it."
noone has met god, and noone can, as far as we know, God is just a figment of their imagination. The people way back in their societ, millions of years ago, might just be pulling crap out of theur asses. I dont know, and i dont really care.
But i do agree with you, ive been agreeing ever since i have been at this stupid Catholic Highschool. -_-

I agree with you. I don't believe in things I can't see or witness. I too, believe in Science. Plus, the fact that some super-natural higher being magically created the world doesn't make any sense. Most of the Bible doesn't make sense.

I agree with you on everything you said. I don't believe at all. I believe in the Science of things. There are no such things as magic and such and if god really existed that would be very weird to think that this person is watching you everyday. when you eat, take a shower, have sex. seriously. If god existed, we'd be his puppets. So many things have happened in the world and its because of us. Not because there is somebody doing it to us.

That was interesting. I agree with you about the brainwashing... that's why extreme christains annoy the hell out of me...they make way too many contradictions and try to make everyone follow their moral standards. I look at it this way-- no one is ever going to know for sure who really is god, or if there is a god, or if there is a heaven and hell, etc. until they're dead... or maybe not even then. So I just believe that there could be a god, i just don't choose to put my faith in one of them. I also try not to like, criticize people's religions that much either...except for christianity because that's kind of hard for me to do.

I think you're right.
In my town, there's a group for teenagers in one of the church that comes up with "fun activites". Some of my friends usually go there, but I refuse to support church since I'm an atheist.
However, the first time they went there they were agnostic and said they were going just to have fun, but coming back saying 'I think I should get a bible'.
It also seems to me that the church had picked the most handsome boys to lead the groups, and this actually HAS worked in brainwashing my friends. By enticing them to go there with free activities and handsome boys, the church also managed to pull some more of otherwise agnostic people over to 'their side'. I accept people's beliefs in god, even if I in my personal opinion think it's pure bullsh*t. I accept that people go to church because they believe in god - but this enticing of youths annoys the hell out of me.

Wow.. This was very interesting to read and to tell you the truth I respect you for what you may or may not believe in. I honestly have no idea if I believe in a God or not. I don't think I do and I don't think I ever have. Like you, I was baptized and went to Sunday school. You know, stuff like that. Whether or not there is a god up there or depending on what religion, many gods, I think that there is something up there. Whether it's some kind of creature or being. You never know, however, we don't know, but many claim that there is. People can believe what they want... I guess I can say I'm really skeptical about things. [I hope that I haven't offended anybody and if I did I didn't mean to.]
