Ian Paisley, Jr: How much hatred can one man hold? Criticised for making Anti-Gay remarks.
This blog expresses the hatred of one man from my point of view
Ian Paisley, Jr: Born December 12, 1966, in Belfast. He is leader of the Northern Ireland Assembly for the Democratic Unionist Party. He is also an author and the son of rev. Ian Paisley. He is a twin.
'I am, unsurprisingly, a straight person and I am repulsed by gays and lesbians'.
Ian Paisley, Jr was quoted to have made this remark in a Hot Press magazine interview.
Furthering his explanation, he continued to say 'that doesn't mean to say that I hate them. I hate what they do'.
But surely Mister Paisley, if you are repulsed by their actions and hate what they do, does that not mean that you hate them? I think it does. If one is to hate the actions of another person, they must hold some sort of resentment towards them.
He also said, 'those people harm themselves and - without caring about it - harm society'
They harm themselves, Mr Paisley? How so?
By finding a loved one and caring for that person? Do they inflict damage upon themselves when they hug their partner, who has the same sex organs? Or when they hold hands. Or laugh together. Or talk together. Or kiss each other.
Those people harm themselves. I think not. They love each other.
If I may be so bold as to ask you Mister Paisley, why do you think that they are harmful to society? What is it that they are doing which is wrong?
Gay couples love each other just as much as straight couples do. They may live together, shop together, eat together, go out together, talk together, sleep with each other, have a family by some alternate route.
What is so repulsing about that?
They do exactly what any other couple is capable of doing.
Are you trying to say that, if seen in public, these couples will "warp" or "brainwash" the youth of today? Are you trying to say that if young people see the actions of these couples, they will automatically turn their sexuality in the opposite direction, and bring a plague of same sex partners upon on this world? Is that what you are afraid of?
You say 'those people harm themselves and - without caring about it - harm society'.
Without caring about it? Without caring about what, Ian Paisley, Jr?
They have done nothing wrong! Nothing to harm anyone. It is you who harm. Your arrogant comment has been seen to the public. Thanks to you, even more comments that are horrendous will be unleashed into this world about gays. You may even have corrupted the mind of some young girl or boy. They may now believe that same sex partners are "harming society".
Are you pleased with that?
I would like to point out that Mister Paisley holds responsibility for equality related areas in his work.
In 2005, Mr Paisley was also censured by the Northern Ireland Policing Bored, for making homophobic remarks about Ulster Unionist Leader, David Trimble.
In addition he "made disparaging comments about the gay marriage in Canada of Stephen King and his partner"
He siad homosexual relationships were "immoral, offensive and obnoxious."
So what is it, that drives a man to make these vile remarks? Why would anyone believe in such ways?
We are all equals in my mind. The time will come, when we will all need to unite as one and fight a force greater then ours. But with people like Ian Paisley, Jr, in this world, that opposition will be very hard to fight.
Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands? ~Ernest Gaines
I hope that some day you will see that quote, Mr Paisley.

I actually think his remarks about homosexuality are pretty average taking it from the context of a roman catholic politician and son of a priest. Also it is possible to hate the act but not the person. I hate when some of my friends take drugs but I still love them. Thats what really confuses people about the christian standpoint of homosexuality. Jesus loves the sinners but hates the sin. Not trying to be a B Basher but it speaks alot of truth,

This has nothing to do with the well written blog you've created above, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to vote for you as best blogger.
Anyways, I had never heard of this guy until I read your blog. However, the things he claims to be true are wrong. Like you I don't understand how being a homosexual and such is wrong because the truth is it isn't. Why is it that so many people cannot see that? I don't know. I just wish more people would start accepting people in society instead of targeting them.
