A letter to Baby Camlin

18th August 2007

Dear Camlin,

As I sit and watch you sleep, I cannot help but reminisce on past doings. I'm not exactly 100% sure as to why I'm refering to the past, when the future is what we crave. Is it not every persons dream to hitch a ride on passing stars and avoid the troubles of our past? God knows we've had plenty.

My one dream in life is to be an official observer. I want to sit in a big desk alongside God and watch the world go by.

Just last week I was looking through some photographs of you when you were born. It amazes me at how fast you've grown; 3 years old already. Your Dad says that he'll soon make a footballer out of you. But personally, I think your Dads crazy. He once tried to persuade me that Monkeys were born in eggs.

I guess the purpose of this letter is to let you know how loved you are. When your older, I'll show it to you and you can laugh at how pathetic I sound. But for now, I just want to sit and watch you. I don;t know why, but I think your dad is doing the same thing. He's just sitting on the floor pretending to watch the telly, but I know he's watching you. I know because he's smiling to himself, and he has that glint in his eye.

I bet that he's dreaming about watching you strut your stuff on the football field, branding a green and white Celtic jersey and waving up at him. Your Dad loves football. Alongside you, it's the light of his life. Yet your his shining star. Without you I don't know what he would do. Being a single parent is hard, he manages so well for a 18 year old.

No star shines brighter then the star of love. He has that inked onto his arm with your name above it.

Each family has moments of happiness and emotion. Our family has shared a great deal of the latter. And you always seem to lighten the mood, Camlin. Always.

So being truthful, this pathetic excuss for a letter was produced to let you know that no matter what hurdles present themselves, I love, Daddy loves you, William loves you, Nana and Granda Lane love you, Joycy loves you and Eric loves you.

Some families lose their bonds of unity, but you've developed ours and kept them strong.

All my love,
Aunti Kee.
xx
