Led Zeppelin

WARNING: BAD SPELLER, PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT ON POOR SPELLING

I know most people on this site listen to a mixture of either Punk Rock (The Ramones, The Clash, NOFX, Rancid, ect.), "New Age" Punk Rock (Green Day, The Offspring, Good Charlotte, Sum 41, Blink-182, ect.), or Emo (My Chemical Romance, The Used, Dashboard Confessional, ect.), but I wish to try an experment and shine a new light over GSB. Don't get me wrong, punk was the very first genre I ever started litening to (Green Day being my first band I ever got into), but theres just so much more. My persional favorite: 70's Metal.

The most well known 70's metal bands were Black Sabbath ("Iron Man", "War Pigs", "Parniod" ect.), Boston ("More Than A Feeling", "Let Me Take You Home Tonight", "Feelin' Satisfied", ect.), Kansas ("Carry On My Wayward Son", "Dust In The Wind" "Point Of Know Return", ect.), Lynyrd Skynyrd ("Sweet Home Alabama", "Free Bird", ect.), and of course, the best of the best, Led Zeppelin ("Stairway To Heaven", "Dazed And Confused", "Heartbreaker", "Immigrant Song", "Black Dog", "Rock And Roll", "Kashmir", "All Of My Love", ect.).

Led Zeppelin, founded by guitarist Jimmy Page in the September of 1968, realising 9 albums in total (Led Zeppelin I, Led Zeppelin II, Led Zeppelin III, Untitled (often refered to as Led Zeppelin IV), Houses Of The Holy, Physical Graffiti, Presence, and Coda) is thought of by many as one of the most influencuial metal bands in history, and a long time member of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

Band Members:

Guitarist:Jimmy Page

Jimmy Page was born on January 9, 1944 and is the very heart and sole of Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin is most famously known for his fantastic guitar chords, work and most of all, his solos. He is known to write 2-3 minute solos in many of Led Zeppelin's songs and is also known to extend that to as much as a half hour during live performance.

Lead Vocals:Robert Plant

Robert Plant, born on August 20, 1948 had one of the most unique singing styles of his day, and modern day(it was a clsoe race between him and Ozzy Osbourne). He is often known to write powerfull and often mystical lyrics that go well with any mood he sets. He also plays the harmonica very well.

Bassist/Keyboardist/Mandolinist:John Paul Jones

John Paul Jones born on January 3, 1946 is one of the most complex bass guitar players you may ever find in the history of rock and roll. You will notice Mike Dirnt strums his bass like someone would with a guitar, this idea helped bassists everywhere gain skill seeing it is easier than the triditional method of plucking. Even if this method was around during his day, I don't think he'd need it. He is also known for the various keyboard and mandolin solos he plays throught Led Zeppelin's carrer.

Drummer/Percussionist:John Bonham

John Bonham, born on May 31, 1948 and died on September 25, 1980 due to alchoal poisening, was simply put, freakin amazing. He is very well known for the use of "trees" (a set of drumsticks where each drumstick is 2 feet long and weighs 5 pounds), and his hands on his drums, to "explore the sound". His greatest acomlpishment was his fammed solo (4 minutes on the album but streaching to about a half an hour during live performance) in "Moby Dick". Sadly, Bonham's death led to the end of Led Zeppelin.

The following viedos are live performances of Led Zeppelin playing what I think are their best songs. They didn't have music viedos in the 70's so bare with them.

Stairway To Heaven

Black Dog

Rock And Roll

Dazed And Confused

If you acually read this entire blog and watched the viedos, I congradulate you. If not, SCROLL BACK UP AND READ THE DAM THING BEFORE YOU COMMENT! Thank you and have a nice day!
