Rant.
It all disgusts me nowadays.
Between those who dress in a way that represents the opposite of their true character, those who have their heads stuck so far up their asses that they become lost in their own world, the homeless people that sleep on subway benches, ask for money and are ignored by others, and those who just give you snarky looks because you're drowning out the sound of everything else, what can we expect from the people here?
Though it seems like a surprise to me, it really shouldn't because these kind of things happen pretty much everywhere, even in New York City (it's not all about the fame, the skyscrapers, and the fucking good life in general).
Speaking of which. (I know that it's not anyone's fault when I say this, so please don't yell at me for speaking my mind) It makes me really mad when some people say that I'm lucky to have lived in Paris and New York because everything there is so pretty and that life must be great, when in reality there are abandoned houses and neighborhoods, in Paris you may see people riding on bikes, the Sacré Coeur at Montmartre, people eating in fancy restaurants, but also the homeless in the subway begging for spare change, sleeping on subway benches with whatever they have to protect and cover themselves, whether it's in the subway, or under bridges, or anywhere else in the streets. Same goes for New York; Manhattan doesn't represent the whole city, there are four other boroughs and though they may not have the Empire State Building, Times Square, or attract tourists, they're still nice parts to be in, and in any of the five boroughs you won't just find nice tourist attractions but old buildings, some that aren't always in great shape, you'll find that some neighborhoods are a wreck, people walking down the streets with whatever they can, trying to find something from a garbage can, whether it's food, magazines, or something to cover themselves with for the night, ask anyone.
I don't know where this is going anymore.

Yeah.
I only cited those two cities because they're the ones I know best, having spent my entire life between the two, but I agree that in most places you will find a certain level of poverty. I wanted to include L.A. in it too, but I wasn't sure about doing so...

I honestly think you would be hard pressed to find any city in the world without some level of homelessness and poverty, but yes I get what you mean. In countries where wealth can be obscene it is difficult to understand why so many go without the basics. It never reflects too well on the city or country for that matter. Yeah its great to provide financial aid to 'third world' countries in need, but it's also important to take care of your own backyard. So many countries and their governing bodies ignore those problems, and it's volunteers who take up the slack. Ignoring the problems do not make them go away.
