Green Day: Punk Royalty?
Punk latches back onto the radar, with a new sheen and formula. Green Day seep through, staining the undergrowth of the genre, revatilising its stale overskin. The Californian Kings march, grafting a route with desire and intent.. The snotty nosed, latch key mellowdramatics are well and truly extinct, Green Day are now an instituion, worthy of being a vibrant jewel on the punk crown. Being the band that carved their own mark on Amarica's polluted and war torn soil, being the act that breached a leaders denial. The World needs an injection, a new flavour to burn the bitter taste.. Music braodens the outlook of a molistated mind, purifying the much mangled thoughts. Green Day are a band of stature and grace, with humour and profile. Since the weed laden 90's, the band have elavated through with albums laced in punk gems. Not sticking to the mainstream claws, not wrapped in cotton wool like their bubblegum counterparts.
With 21'st Century Breakdown, Green Day's sound has a new breath. The're sound is defined and ambitious... Amarican Idiot was a marvel, a rise to fame, when fame was already apparent. 2004 was a kickstart to a fresh revolution, Green Day where a engine rusted and battered, and luidicrously overused. But that year unearthed a protest, a script written by the hands of rock gods. 2009 will be the next outing for a band that has patrolled a sector for 20 years, grafting and venturing. 21'st Century Breakdown could be a relapse back to the underground, or a chance to sign there name on the list of Punk royalty..

I think 21st Century Breakdown Is gonna bring Green Day a whole new group of fans.
More mature and older fans cos from the songs I've heard their sound is alot more Punk/Classic Rock with serious and blunt lyrics... They've gone down a road alot similar to that of the Clash its gonna be good stuff :)
And Green Day will be accepted into that Punk circle of the Clash and the Pistols and other 70's Punk bands
