My mind is set on overdrive, the clock is laughing in my my face...

I am actually listening to Green Day for once. Its been awhile. I'm listening to Insomniac, my second favorite album. Westbound Sign at the moment. I've always felt like I could relate to this song, but even more so now. I love Green Day. I miss Green Day. I miss the old Green Day. I miss the way Billie Joe wailed the lyrics on the songs on Insomniac. 86, Armatage Shanks, Tight Wad Hill, Walking Contradiction, Brain Stew....The drive of the guitar, the purpose of Billie Joe's voice, the slamming of the drums, the driving bass line of Panic Song! The amusing and witty lyrics....This music is legendary. Sure, American Idiot was artistic. But 21st Century Breakdown is just a lame copy with a couple changes. I realize bands change as they get older...but boy do I miss the old Green Day.

When people say that Green Day is a great band, they think of American Idiot...But how? Have they not heard the old Green Day? Its genius. I grew up, literally, listening to Green Day. I started at the age of 14, young and clueless. I went through the trials and tribulations of youth with the music of Green Day in my ear. The good times and bad times, there was Green Day. American Idiot sure had its place, that album was a major part of my life for a long time...but what really got me through touch times was Nimrod and Insomniac and Dookie and 1039/Smooth....I could just relate.

Now I'm 19. Green Day is no longer the band I listen to the most, in fact I rarely listen to them at all. Yet I return to this site every single day. Its familiar, comforting. And I am reminded of a Green Day lyric or two at least once a day. I will never forget them. There are now bands I listen to more, but none compare to Green Day. The music strikes a chord in my heart like no other band can.

I cannot speak, I've lost my voice I'm speechless and redundant cause I love you's not enough, I'm lost for words...
