(Sorry if this is in the wrong section... I had no idea where else to put it.)

As I'm sure many of you know, CBGB is a legendary venue with its roots covered with the beginning and original markings of punk music. Just like 924 Gilman Street on the west coast, CBGB is famous for launching careers of bands that many record labels would have probably overlooked. It is also a safe haven for the misfits forced to deal with society's retarded demands.

Sadly, the BRC, an organization funded by the government, is trying to evict our club due to unpaid rent. CBGB owner, Hilly Kristal, was never behind in paying rent to the BRC, but was unaware of the price raise in the rent.

BRC presented CBGB with a $300,000 bill for unpaid rent, and after THAT was paid, CBGB was presented with $76,000 bill for unpaid rent. Hilly Kristal just doesn't have that kind of money to be paying.

The last show is scheduled for Halloween, but maybe the end of CBGB can be stopped!

Please visit the CBGB website to find out what else can be done!

First off, CBGB is way bigger than Gilman.
Second of all, you're not going to be able to save it.
Third, The place was pretty grimy anyways. And it's not like there is no place for the "disenfranchised youth" to go in the village. lmfao
And, i mean c'mon, you're not even FROM New York.

She doesnt have to be from New York to appreciate the historical Value of CBGB's and want to prevent it from being destroyed.

Yeah, it's pretty cool but a lot of great bands have played in other places. People seem to forget that it's just a dirty club.

Exactly, it didn't remodel it's self or try to be a nbig venue, it stayed a filthy little hole in the wall and thats why it rocks.

Even something so "insignificant" as a dirty club has history.

If this is going to turn into people insulting each other or whatever about whether or not they have right to care about something because of where they live, I'm locking it. Just a forewarning.

Trust me, if a different club decided to stay a shithole people wouldn't be praising it.
I mean, CB's is cool but you're kind of jumping on the bandwagon a little late. It's over, they're getting rid of it and there is nothing we can do about it, oh well.

Trust me, there are a lot more clubs in New York.

No one is insulting each other, they were just stating their opinion.

As long as it stays respectful, it's fine.

So we should tear down Stonehenge, too?
It's just history. It's just time in our hands. Not only should we let it be lost, but we should aid in destroying it.
I hope that isn't what you're saying.

I think this should be moved to the other sites forum. That way people interested will use the thread, it really isnt a discussion.

It doesn't belong in "Other Sites"
It can be a good discussion. Give it some time.

it's about the site to save CBGB's. I think it does. Someone should make a thread about preserving history, then you could talk about more than just CBGB's

Ah, you're right.
Didn't see that bit that way the first time I read the topic.
Yes, I'll move it.
Thank you.

As far as the website is concerned. The part about sending a letter to mayor Bloomberg will not work.
My sister works for mayor Bloomberg and he does not read the mail.
But if you send in a letter to the editor to a newspaper around here (and it gets PRINTED) he WILL read it.
