That's weird.
Why were they on the plane?

Probably because they were trying to get from one place to another, y'know?

Aren't you funny,
If they have swine flu why are they?

...Well, it was a bit of a stupid question tbh.
Swine flu is exactly that. Flu. It's not a big deal. If you had plans, what would you do? There's no reason to not travel if it's important for you to be somewhere.

But with so many people freaking out about it,
You'd think that they wouldn't allow it to avoid the drama.

Helter-skelter:
I got it, it's not that bad. I mean yeah, it sucks, but if you've had the regular flu before (which I have) then it's really not even that bad when compared with the regular flu. The only thing that really sucks about it is the annoying nagging cough that you keep for about a month after. I got the flu on September 25th and was over it by the 28th, but I still have the nasty congestion and cough. That's it though.

Over 500 kids at my highschool had it, including some teachers, and it looked like the fucking plague hit because one of my classes usually has 23 students but only 5 were there.

My take on it is that the people who die from it are usually old, small children, or people who were already sick before they got the swine flu and it didn't help because their immune system was already weak. I think the vaccination is sort of dumb because health specialists are spazzing about it since it hasn't really been tested on people yet. So for all we know it could have serious adverse effects that are far more deadly than the swine flu itself and people could get really messed up from the shot. Honestly, if I were everyone else, I would just not get the shot and accept that you might get the swine flu. It's really not that bad.

Actually, the CDC says that there haven't been as many older people dying from swine flu. Unlike the normal flu where the typical age group of death from flu is the elderly, with the swine flu it is being shown that younger people are dying from it.

The purpose of the vaccine is to build immunity to the swine flu. To help prevent the swine flu from becoming a pandemic. That's why it's being offered in many schools.

Also, many people believe that getting the vaccine is going to get you sick. It will not get you sick. If you get sick with the swine flu after getting the vaccine it is because you were already exposed to the swine flu virus.

Personally, I plan on getting the shot. My school is administering them on November 12th and I know I will be getting mine, God willing.

What does being obese have to do with it?

I am not scared of it,
My school gave out the shot, didn't get it,
I am even on my soccer team, and we share water bottles and stuff,
STILL don't have it,
Really, just keep healthy and have you immune system kept up,
And get vitamin C,
Like any other flu.

AND IT'S NOT GOING NOR IS IT NOW A PANDEMIC.

I for one am definitely going to get vaccinated... as nervous as I am about it. I'm done freaking out about it. But, I can narrow it all down to this.
Reasons why I'm getting it..
a.) I don't want to get sick.
b.) I think it's worth it to have some type of protection against it.
c.) I know this is stretching the "I'm not freaking about it bit.." but I DON'T WANT TO DIE YOUNG! I know someone who's already passed on because of it..
d.) I don't want to run the risk of getting it..
e.) If I don't get it, I'll be terminated from my job..

Reasons why I don't want to get it... or am resistant to getting it..
a.) What if this shot doesn't work?
b.) What if I get sick after getting the shot?
c.) What if the shot kills us all?
d.) I kinda hate needles..

I don't know... the bottom line is I'm getting it to keep myself hopefully safe from it. I don't want to take any risks with H1N1. I know people think it's no big deal, but it kind of is... sure, it's a new disease and it's something for everyone to freak out about, but honestly, from people who've had it, it's either you get a mild case, or you get a really bad case.. either way, you're isolated for 5 days or until you're not contagious and hopefully you don't die.. but I've already lost one person to it!

They don't even know the side effects and it was created in such a short amount of time, yeah its really "safe." I don't think so.

That's the major thing that scares me... they really haven't had much time to research it! How do we know that the vaccine will be as effective as they want it to be?

They develop a new flu vaccine every year. It doesn't take that long.

You're cool, nope. I just know it, there is always something that this country/world is needing to be over dramatic about and get all fussy. I mean really...it's a flu. Hasn't killed that many people, and if regular flu can kill older people, and this one can kill younger people, it's NOTHING. FAR from a pandemic....dear Jesus.

I am cool, thank you. Smile

I don't think they're being over dramatic, I think they're trying to prevent it from getting worse. The CDC still doesn't know much about H1N1 and are trying to learn more. I think that would be called "being concerned."
And I never said it has become a pandemic, or will become one.
I said the purpose of the vaccine is to prevent it from becoming a pandemic.

You asked me if I looked into my crystal ball, which is why I responded.
Rolling Eyes

It's gone on for to long to still be concerned about,
Nothing new has happend, so this has given them something to do, and really, they're causing more of a panic then is needed.

I'm a little worried about it right now.

I just got diagnosed with M.E. a few weeks ago and I've got a crappy immune system... I get almost every virus going around!

Haven't got it yet, fingers crossed. But I've heard that it's just like the flu too, so I guess that wouldn't be too horrible.

According to my doctor, I contracted H1N1 a while back and didn't notice...heh. It felt like a regular cold.

I think that everyone is overreacting (especially the Egyptian government...hah) to swine flu, but I can kind of see why. I just learned about this in debate class:

Influenza Pandemic of 1918/"Spanish Flu"

Similar strain to H1N1, started out kinda weak but ended up killing millions.

I don't think that what we have today is going to end up killing that many people, but I'm guessing that's the main reason why scientists are all like "VACCINATE EVERYONE NOW"

I got the vaccine the other day and I'm perfectly fine.
It was a dulled version of the virus shot up my nose.

Well I don't think it's a stupid question at all.
I would hate to be stuck in a cockpit with a contagious person. Incubation period is your friend.

Which relates to the question 'why were they on the plane' how?
Regardless, you've probably been stuck in confined spaces with diseased or infectious people before. It doesn't mean you will get the virus, it merely increases your chances, and for the vast majority of people who get swine flu, nothing will happen beyond the normal, boring flu that people get every year yet nobody spazzes out over. You've probably been on a plane with someone who has a cough or a cold before, this is no different really.

No it's plenty different when it's a world wide pandemic that has dire effects on children.
Yes, coughs colds, sneezes, they've all been transferred about the place.
But it makes no sense to increase the risk of 70+ passengers

How is it different? The analyis of swine flu shows that it's nothing more than a strain of flu, and the vast majority will present with mild symptoms at that. Plus, what are these so-called "dire effects on children"? It's not like anyone, children or adults regardless, are dropping dead from swine flu in greater numbers than they would for seasonal flu.

HIV/AIDS is also currently a global pandemic. Though I must say, people don't really care or freak out as much as they do for some special flu. I wonder why that is.
