Amherst, MA - Mullins Arena, April 29th, 2005

After standing in line outside on a dreary rainy day around 7:30 they opened the doors to mullins center. Everyone started filling in. The show was totally sold out yet when My Chemical Romance started playing at 8:00, the center was only 1/3 filled. By the time everyone got settled down after MCR, the drunken pink bunny came on and worked his magic by falling around all over the stage. The bunny left, the lights dimmed, and the space oddsey song came on right on cue. Everyone started screaming their lungs out. Billie Joe shouted "Welcome to massachussets motherfuckers!" and the show had offically begun.

They played American Idiot supplied by of banners popping off and lots of fire. That was soon followed by Jesus of Suburbia, Holiday and We Are the Waiting (but Billie Joe forgot the name of his own song and called it st. jimmy by accident) and then St. Jimmy, of course. Next was longview. First the guitar started then drums then Mike kept playing the first three notes until he finally decided to start the bassline. And you would think there was a cue or something because the second that song started, little puffs of smoke descended from the crowd. They also played songs like she, minority, and hitchin' a ride, which took exceptionally long because when Billie Joe told us to shout : 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4 ; we weren't as near as loud as he expected us to be. And of course, being in Amherst, MA, we has a few good chants of "Yankees suck!"

Somewhere in the middle of the concert was a most memorable part. Billie Joe just started to do some normal crowd interaction crap, so he said, "say ah!" and it sounded no different then it would at any time and then it started to get a little faster and the ah's got closer together and a little more... well... orgasmic... and by that time everyone stopped shouting with him and had their mouths open so wide they couldn't even laugh. Then after the climax he goes "somebody fuck me!!!" and all the ladies in the house screamed like there was no tomorrow. He also brought up a kid to help him use the super soakers to drench all the lucky bastards on the floor. A little later they took the three luckiest people up to take their musical positions. The girl hugged Billie Joe when she found out she got to keep the guitar. And the bass player looked positively radiant when he ran and jumped into the crowd.

Green Day also played shout which was a real crowd pleaser. In the middle of it when you get all soft Mike and Billie Joe were on the floor still playing away and some stage hands came up to Billie Joe and they draped a king's cloak over him. They also did a cover of a song from Korn, and King for a Day, in which Billie Joe mooned us and showed , what seemed to be, his leather thong. Next was Wake me up When September Ends, which had no shortage of cell phone lights and lighters flickering in the crowd. They played Minority and Maria and then left. But then everyone started shouting, "Green Day! Green Day! Green Day!" and they came running back on stage to play Boulevard of Broken Dreams. After a huge ovation for that ever popular song, they started to play We are the Champions. Not one person was silent. During the end huge clouds of red and green confetti started spilling out all over the stage and the floor and at the end Mike and Tre ran off. The lights went out everywhere and suddenly a spotlight flew around the center and landed on a sole member of Green Day. Billie Joe stood there alone in the spotlight, red confettii raining down on him as he started to play Good Riddance. It was the most amazing sight you'd ever see.
