Dallas, TX American Airlines Center, August 19th, 2005
Green Day is awesome live! The concert began at 7:30 with Jimmy Eat World, and they were good live. After their performance, there was some down time where they played music and prepared the stage for Green Day. After about 20 minutes of waiting, the Pink Bunny came out and danced to "YMCA". He was hilarious! He drank two bottles of beer and became a little bit tipsy. Soon after, Green Day came out! They had explosions, fire, and lights everywhere!
They played American Idiot, Holiday, Jesus of Suburbia, St. Jimmy, Wake Me Up When September Ends, King For A Day, Shout, Minority, Basket Case, Longview, Knowledge, Jaded, She, Brain Stew, Hitchin' a Ride, Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Good Riddance. During their encore they played Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Maria, and We Are the Champions.
They interacted with the crowd, too. During We Are The Champions, they made us hold up our lighters and cell phones. Of course, they made us do the HEY OH's. Billie Joe made a band during Knowledge, while wearing a cowboy hat. An 18 year-old kid named Chase was his guitarist and Billie asks, "Have you ever been laid?" The guy says, "No." "Well, you're gonna get laid now!" Chase hugs BJ, and BJ gives him one on the lips. Then, Billie let Chase keep the guitar, and he made the kid who was the drummer do a stage dive. Later on, Billie Joe squirts water at the audience, and calls up a 7-8 year-old boy to do it. Bj does a little strip by throwing off his tie, unbuttoning his shirt a little bit, rolling up his sleeves and lifting his shirt up a little bit. Tre is banging away on the drums, and Mike is playing close to the crowd.
Billie tells a little story about his time in Texas. He says how he was on a road trip in Texas, and he had to go to the bathroom, so he pisses in someone's bushes. A guy comes out yelling at him, telling him never come back to Texas. Billie then says that he kept "coming back, coming back, coming back, and coming back!" I also quote Billie Joe, "This is not a red state. this is not a blue state, this is a GREEN DAY STATE!"
It was a kick-ass concert!
