Sometimes…my school makes me want to cry…
[This blog was inspired by xxJDRxx’s blog which I’d seriously recommend reading.]
It’s a good school for grades and all, one of the best public one’s in Leeds, even England. But it’s the people. This blog is not referring to all people in the school, some stand on the same side of the fence as me, but others, they hurt me without meaning to.
Homophobes :
“That is so Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!” Something I typically here in the corridors. The word gay is used an insult. Only one person in the last few years has been proud and strong enough to let the school know, but they changed school after some horrible bullying insults. I admired this boy so much for what he did; sadly, I was almost alone in my opinion. “Head of Science” at my school, she’s a lesbian and will openly admit it. I admire her, but most others mock. Even some of the teachers are homophobic. Yes. Not everyone at my school is homophobic, just about 2/3 are, which is a lot when you think about what they’re trying to say.
Racists :
My school is mixed race. Race has never been an issue, except a lot of people have issues against people from Pakistan. I’m not going to repeat what they say, or what they do or the jokes, but I’m sure you’ve heard them. These people believe that all Muslims are suicide bombers. These people all believe that people not born in the UK are thieves. I would continue, but all the other stuff they say, it hurts me even to repeat it.
There are also the labelling issues; almost everyone has to feel like they need to label someone else. I assumed that people who are not homophobes or racists would also be smart enough not to label, but they still do. I’ll probably post a blog concerning my school, me and labels, but another time.
Thanks for reading. x

Wow. You think your school is bad. My school is Greek Orthodox. If someone said they were gay, they would be sent councelling, and race debates are the most common out there. In like every class theres bound to be at least one racial joke.

.it is the person you are and it shouldnt matter if your gay,bisexual...anything...we should all be able to stand together as one nation of people who dont discriminate against others...im not racist sexist or anything like this but i wish everyone would just get along.

I have heard some of the disgusting things said about people from pakistan, and they are unacceptable. The fact that people would discriminate against other people for something they are unable to control shows the lack of intelligence in parts of society. Same goes for sexual orientation, you don't choose what gender or genders attract you, so how can you judge someone for something they can't control? It's insane. Great blog.

There's a rumour at my school that there's this group of lesbians.. But why have a rumour about it? It's just natural.
My parents had lesbian friends, some of the nicest people I've ever met.
Just about everyone uses "gay" as an insult. Sad to admit it, even my best friend. ._.
I just say, "How could gay be an insult? It's too cool".

Yeah good blog, that happens at my school A LOT.
I agree with what Emma said about the Green Day thing, i said that Billie was Bisexual after a lot of comtemplation in my music class if he was and the immediate reaction was 'eww'.. Shoudln't happen but it does. Personally i feel it's because people are insecure. * Shrugs* Thats my personal opinion.
But an awesome Blog :D

Good blog. That's basically my school too. All my friends are like 'That's so gay!" and it gets really annoying. You go "Yeah the lead singer of Green Day is bisexual" or something like that and they'll say "...ew" And for the racists.... that's true. Everybody just immediately thinks that all muslims are people who will bomb you. *sighs*
