"Emo sub-culture blammed for suicide pact between 2 teenage girls."
A news headline of tonight April 23rd.
Jodie Gater and Stephanie Gestier were found hanging from a tree in a Melbourne national park today, after being reported missing for a week. A suicide pact, linked to Myspace.
In this picture they seem so happy. Together they had a band named 'Bitchy'.
Jodi had written many 'Suicidal' poems and posted them on blogs on her Myspace.
One titled 'Suicide in The Night':
"It's over for me, I can't take it! I hear it over and over again, It feels like it always rains."
There were 3 poems bassed around suicde on Jodies Myspace.
Another reading: "Let Steph n Me be free"
Stephanie had also posted "i dont wanna know how many friends you have cuz i dont have any anymore (sic)."
As well as a string of "disturbing pictures and photos. (I'm guessing self harm icons etc)
The last message left by either of the girls was by Jodie which was a picture of her and her boyfriend, Allan, kissing. The caption was:
"I luv you sooo soo much Allan, Miss u heaps and heaps xoxoxo I will always remember u,"
This is an indacation that the suicide was planned days,week or months in advance.
Her final message left too her boyfriend.
The police do not et know what pushed these girls over the edge.
I didn't know either of these girls.
But when I heard about it, it wasn;t my usual reaction.
My stomach dropped and I almost felt like crying.
Also the murder of Carly Ryan in Febuary, which affected lots of my close friends.
She was found on a beach, Horseshoe bay. A beach wihich I've visting many tmes when I was a kid.
Her clothing had been removed and put back on.
It was apparent that she had met these met one Teenage boy through myspace and was going too meet up with him. She unfortunatly went alone.
They found her ring and necklace before a couple found her body in shallow water.
Here myspace adress 'Synthetic.Slut' showed "morbid" images and girls in bondage.
I didn't know her, but whatever effects my friends, effects me too.
The Emo subculture has been put into blame for both a murder and two suicides.
Saying the music tells people to "Kill them selves" and that it's all about death.
I don't think the emo subculture should be blamed.
I don't think these girls would have either.
Emo shouldn't be blamed for death and suicide.
Blaming something like emo isn't going to make-up for what was really wrong with the girls.

Carly went to my school, and was in my homeroom last year.
I hate how things like this are being blamed on subculture, and Myspace.

i dont blame the emo subculture...but that was really shocking text...really...i hope that never happens here and i feel sorry for the three girls..i pity the first two ones.

It seems every teenage murder/suicide lately has had something to do with MySpace. -_-
It's sad how they've died, and MYSpace gets the blame, sure it shows at least a little insight into what they were like, and as for the songs posted on Jodie's MySpace, they may not have even had anything to do with her death, i know a few people who write about suicide, and it have nothing to do with how they feel.
But i think that the police shouldn't jump to conclusions on any teenage death, because chances are, they haven't got a clue about how the teenage mind works anymore.
