Do you miss it too?
Do you miss the years back when everything was new and you could just be yourself?
I do. I know I was just a little kid or maybe I never even exsisted at that point, but in school we get told about the days where no one cared what you looked like or who you hung out with.
The closest thing to labels were music genres.
Not many people at my school seem to miss it, or even know that much about anything back then. Most of the people I see at school are only concerned with everything new. Even if they LOVE a song to bits, as soon as it gets old, they've forgotten it and moved onto the next one.
In music (we're currently doing "History of Rock" I heard one of the girls in my class ask who Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix were.
It really hit home then how far music has come, how low it has stooped to become popular.
Listen to the lyrics of an old (or at least pretty old) song
like, say, either "Stairway to Heaven" or "Under the Bridge" and compare them with a new song like........."Fergalicious" or "Girlfriend." (No offence to those who might like those songs, they're just good examples)
Take note on the meaning behind the words.
What does the older song make you think of?
What about the newer one?
Did you find any special meaning behind the lyrics?
Nowadays artists sing about love even if they aren't in love or haven't currently broken up with somone.
They sing about sex, drugs, and fashion.
Back then it was politics, peace, dreams, the future, true love, and other things.
Why couldn't we just stay with real music?
It saddens me no end.

Yeah I know, but the thing is, they asked it in a music subject called the History of Rock. And it was an elective. I just see a lot of people at my school seem to only look at the present, not the future or the past.

That's not really true.
There were poppy meaningless songs back in the days as today are.
And not everyone's ~life is music~. So what's so bad about not knowing Led Zeppelin? You might not know some really challenging football player or alchemist dude, because you don't care about it. :]

Teddi, your blog pwns.
And I'm pretty sure I've commented all of yours. XD
Music today pretty much sucks compared to older music.
But I still like all the music my parents listen to. [:
Some people just suck. Lol.

There still is tons of good music. You have to dig a bit deeper than you would have had too, let's say, in the 60's.
And I truly believe music will take a turn for the better in some short years.

I agree. I also agree with Riot on the Radio. Times do change. I miss those days though, even though I was either really young or I was never born. It makes me mad when legends that have contributed so much to music are forgotten. Hendrix especially, he was amazing! Without the great music made back then the music today would cease to exist. Why don't people see that? It pisses me off.
Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and live when all of these legends would emerge. Music truly was real you know. Back in the days when everything was so much easier. And like my brother says, "You can never go wrong with the classics." ;)

THEY ASKED WHO LEP ZEP AND JIMI WERE!?!? *shoots them* and Stairway has way better lyrics than Girlfriend! I mean seriously!
i wish i could go back in time, i would actually fit in there O_O
KarenAndTheBabes, June 5th, 2007 at 04:41:56am
they asked who Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin were? o.O
And of course Stairway To Heaven has better lyrics than Girlfriend, I like Girlfriend though. But Stairway To Heaven is better and the lyrics part, ut the music part too.
Songs that sing about sex and/or taking or encouraging people to take drugs piss me off.
Back there was real music, with meaningful lyrics....
Good Blog
