Biting Nails
This is something that neaarly 50% of the population does: biting nails. People often do it in situations where they are nervous, stressed, bored or excited. In it's extremes people don't have any nails anymore.
I personally bite my nails too. I don't do it extreamely much, my nails don't really look like it, but it still bugs me alot. I observe myself especially biting them when I'm watching TV and am totally drown into something. Or I do it when I'm really nervous. Nail biting is something that I really want to get rid of. I started in elementary school when I saw a friend of mine always doing it and I imitated it. Actually, I went through a phase where I considered long nails as disgusting and I hated it when I had long nails. I always bit them so they weren't that long anymore. Luckily, I never bit them too much. Therefore I can say that I am very lucky that it doesn't look bad now. In order to stop me from biting them I use coloured nail polish. When I used invisible nail polish it didn't help because even if I bit it off you would still not notice it. But when I'm wearing cloured polish you see when I was biting them and it looks stupid. And this really helps me.
I started to consider long nails pretty again. But I definitly highly dislike fake nails. Especially when they are way too long. I want nails that look natural and that I can work with, not some super long posh nails that I can't even brush my hair with. Now, with exams coming I fear of starting to bite my nails again. But I will stay strong.

I honestly feel like I'm the only one who doesn't bite their nails. Like, I barely know anyone that doesn't. O__O
It's so weird. I don't see how it gets 'addicting'. xD

I do it all the time and it annoys me so much.
I try to stop but can't.

I used to bite my nails down to stubs; to the point where I had hang nails and they were so short they would bleed and be painful. I saw my mum doing it and I just ... did... when I was bored, nervous or stressed, like you said, I would bite.
Then I decided that it didnt look cute, so I grew them. My sister was getting married and I wanted to look girly, so I put fake acrylic ones on. I bit through those, though they did help my nails to grow. I dont wear them anymore, but my nails look better, though theyre still on the short side. But at least I can wear nail varnish and be cute, in a punk way. LOL

I've chewed my nails for as long as I can remember. And I've been trying to stop since I was about 13. I've been doing better lately. I only chew one hand now, as weird as that sounds

I bite my nails, and have for as long as i can remember. I've tried that nail polish that has that horrible taste to it, but i can chew through that, and i even chew through coloured nail polish, so really for me, it's just the whole mind over matter thing.
I mainly bite mine when i'm walking or bored, like you said.
I even bite my nails while i'm drumming.

I wear coloured polish to stop too, but i'm not allowed it in school, so... my nails grow in the holidays and get bitten down again in term time =/
