Music.
Music is everywhere. Everyone has their favourite songs, bands, artists...music. We have music that fits to any of our moods, whether we want to dance, sing along, mosh, or relax. Music can touch our heart, music can effec our mood. Music can do so much. And people always talk about music. It's not just another random thing in our society; it's a hobby. It's something that is enjoyed by young and old, human or animal.
Now there are tons of different music genres, using different beats, different instruments and different styles of singing. And we all should respect the different genres, whether it is pop, hip hop, opera, instrumental, rock or whatever else.
Nevertheless, this is something that seems to be missing.
When I tell some people that I also like Madonna for example, they give me weird looks and roll their eyes. Why? What have I done wrong? What is so wrong with having a specific taste on something? What is so weird with liking Madonna's music?
- Because she's just weird and slutty and the music is shit.
I want to point out two things.
Firstly, only because you feel antipathy for a certain artist or band - and to feel antipathy for someone is human nature - does not mean that you can judge everything they do by that. I don't care if Madonna is too old for wearing the things she wears, I don't care if she did this or that, what I care about is that the music makes me feel good, makes me wanna dance and puts a smile on my face.
And I think it is a great achievement that she managed to be on top for so many years. Most popular bands of nowadays weren't even born when she started.
Of course, there is no doubt that not everyone can like every kind of music, I also don't like all music. And that's ok. But it is unfair when you judge other people by the music they listen to. It doesn't make them fakers or posers.
Secondly, I think that whenever you like someone, you should not feel restricted showing it. I love music with a nice melody, something that goes into your head. That can be found in Rock, in Pop, in Dance, in Country...everywhere. I do mainly like Rock music, but I also like Pop...Madonna, Boybands...heck yes. Who cares as long as it makes you happy, as long as you enjoy it? Avril Lavingne's "Girlfriend" is catchy, it goes straight into your head, it makes you want to dance. You call her a poser? Who cares! The song's great. Stop being narrow-minded.
Some people need to learn to love music more. Music in general, not just their favourite music. Some people enjoy this, some people enjoy that and some people enjoy this and that. Don't look down on them for liking a specific song, or music genre. There is no right and wrong, no good and bad. It's all subjected and depending on the likes and dislikes of the listener.

I LOVE YOU =D
That was awesome ^^
And I totally agree. I'm so sick of people looking at me strange cause of something I like. Cause I like a lot of weird stuff.
So consider me the weird kid(cause I am). And all the normal kids look at me funny for liking older stuff, like Sex Pistols, Queen, The Clash and stuff.
While friends of my friend(who hardly listens to anything other than metal. Same goes for her friends) look at me like "wtf?" if I say I listen to Lily Allen, Amy Whinehouse and other popish stuff...or blink-182 or even Green Day cause apparently "they're not hardcore enough"
Respect what I like dude.
o.o
Sorry for ranting.
But I totally agree.
And I think "guilty pleasure songs" are so stupid. Why should I be ashamed of music I like?
I know music is important and stuff like that.
But it's still just music, and it does not say anything about how you act towards others!
SO HAH!
o.o
Anyways
amazing blog!

yes. this hits hard to me but I'll tell you right now. I am closeminded. And its something I struggle with daily. Its nice to know someone can write out the feelings I've been trying to get to. It sucks because I really don't know how to go about getting over this giant blockade I've made for myself of the whole 'well she is this so I can't listen to her' thing because frankly its huge.
Its something I'll have to deal with in time but I'm glad you wrote the blog. It helped a lot actually. :D

My music tastes are so so broad. I appreciate lots of different genres, so I wholeheartedly agree with you! Excellent blog =)

*Votes you for Best Blogger*
I love this blog.
I have mainly rock music on my iTunes, but if you look closely you'll see a pop song or rap. I don't just restrict to one type of music, I like a variety. I like dance & disco music. [:
I mean dude, I have nothing left to say.
You've explained it all.

i agree!
i love any type of musci.
from rave to screamo.
it just depends if i like the song or not.
i wish people would just listen to music if they like it and dont listen to it if they dont

I agree.
Although, my music taste isn't broad in the genre respect. I like rock music. I tend to delve deeper into that category though. I listen to older stuff (lately it's Queen. I love them so much), and I listen to newer stuff.
I tend to like music from my parents era. It's just so much better than a lot of the stuff out now. In my opinion anyways.
...And yet, despite all this I have an odd obsession with Can't Touch This and Super Freak by MC Hammer and Rick James. (It's the same music pretty much)..

I agree. Especially with the last paragraph. I mean I love rock music. It's my favourite and all, but who says I can't enjoy listening to rap every once in a while? Over the past little while and since I've started playing the drums I find beats everywhere and in any kind of music. Rap in particular. Like all music, it's made of beats and rhythm, which is why I respect it.
Also, I agree with the fact that you shouldn't be ashamed of showing what music you like. People should be proud of it and have the freedom to like any music they want without being judged. I'll admit that I don't like Avril Lavigne.. but man, her song girlfriend is frikin catchy xD
nice blog. =]
