Once upon a time...

Once upon a time there was this little girl with beautiful golden blond hair and bright blue eyes. She spent most of her time dancing in her room, jumping around and wishing she could be a princess. She sang the songs they sang in Disney movies and fairy tales. She started dreaming of her own prince. That idea and belief in true love always stayed with her...all her life.

It's the idea of having someone who is meant for you. The belief that everyone will find their true love, that one person who makes them complete. And when you find them it's this one special feeling, the feeling that will only happen once in your life. Those butterflies in your stomach, the huge smile on your face, this feeling that nothing evil can ever turn you two apart.

She slowly grew older, and searched for her true love. People around her told her there is no such thing as true love. It’s just a fairy tale and nothing more. She never wanted to believe it and kept on searching. Surely, she’s been with guys, but they didn’t give her that special feeling. One day though, there was this guy who seemed so different. Everything was different with him. She fell deeply in love with him. And she ignored everyone who said he wasn’t right for her.

Suddenly something happened. She found out about someone else who was in his heart. Her whole world fell apart. She cried for weeks and her tears never seemed to dry. Then there was this guy who cheered her up. She’s known him for a while and suddenly she started feeling different about him. Suddenly there was something that hasn’t been there before. True Love.

She had those butterflies in her stomach, she was thinking about him day and night. She was so in love with him. They got together, even though it were difficult circumstances. She always thought that those obstacles that were in their way could be overcome if they just stood true to each other. She sacrificed a lot to him and she included him 100 per cent in her life. It felt like her fairy tale dream come true. His touch, his smell, his love seemed so perfect for her. She was in heaven.

But then, his love suddenly started to hurt. He acted different and she wondered why. But she never got an answer. She cried herself to sleep and night and thought of ways to make him talk to her more happily. But nothing worked. He rejected her again and again, still saying those three words to her though: I love you. She didn’t understand…and cried herself to sleep again.

It fell apart. Her heart got broken. Her trust in true love seemed to disappear. She still gets people saying true love doesn’t exist. And now she’s struggling. She finds herself faced with a problem she never had before. She can’t open herself to guys anymore. She rejects everyone asking her out. And if she actually does go on a date with them, she makes sure she doesn’t get too close to them. And late at night, she finds herself crying to sleep. How should she find her prince if she struggles to open up to anyone? And again she cries.

And as she is thinking about the story she is writing about herself, she knows that she can’t just give up. She knows that even after all that happened, all the tears that she’s cried, she can’t give up. He is somewhere out there, the man with a heart of gold, someone who loves her much as she deserves, maybe even more. And she will love him in return.

Even though for now her heart is still broken and she’s struggling with herself, she knows that one day she’ll find this special someone. And then she’ll live happily ever after.

Always hold onto your dreams, they are some of the most precious things in this world.
