GSB: Are We The Same...Or Totally Different?
So GSB is a Green Day fansite, yes? Some sorts of common interests found amongst the users here are as follows:
-talent for playing the guitar
-love for rock bands
-love for cute rockstars
-Randomness
-radical political views
-strong opinions
-problems with the “preps” at school
So it seems with all these common interests at hand that GSB would be a happy place with no fights or arguments or judgments. That every user who logs on will finally find a place where they are the same as everyone else. Guess what…you’re wrong.
Don’t get me wrong, GSB is a very amazing site, created by the one and only Dujo. I absolutely adore this place, as does many of you GSBians who are reading this. But I have heard some people complaining about other users on here and how they pick and judge them. But I don’t see how this is such a big shocker to everyone. GSB may be a amazing place, with lots of similar hobbies and interests, but its no less of a reality as everyday is. No one on here is quite the same…no one in the world is quite the same, so of course conflict is going to arise.
GSB is real life. The only difference is, is that instead of seeing our face, you see our icon and our username. Everyone still has their own, unique personality, hobbies, likes, dislikes, music taste, and opinions. It’s a very diverse site in so many ways. We are not all the same. We may have similar trates…but that doesn’t mean that everyone thinks the same.
GSB reminds me of my school. Or any typical school of course. There are arguments, dating, crushes, best friends, enemies, and lessons to be learned. I believe that I have got a lot out of this site, and so has so many others. This started out as a Green Day fansite…but turned into so much more. It’s a place to find people who have similar interests, to be random on, to heed advice on, and to escape things going on in your real life.
But once you log off you are back in your own life. Back to reality. GSB can be an escape, a sanctuary, a little piece of heaven, hell on Earth…but it’s a community. A group of people (particularly in their teens) coming together and having a good time.
Yes there is populars. Yet there is drama. Yes there are outcasts, and arguments, and thrills, chills and spills.
GSB is a fansite. It’s a highschool. Its so much more.

I think GSB works so well (most of the time...), because everyone here has a common interest, or has been on her so long, that even if they dont really like Green Day, they're so latched to it. It's a relatively small community that's almost grown wild in a sense.
Dujo only cracked down on the swearing a while ago.

If there was a school for GSBians I would go to it and actually be happy. That says alot about how great I think the people on here are.

Not all of those statements are true. Like not if you really look the political views arn't that radical. You are right about it being so much more then a fansite though. :)

I really like GSB because you can tell someone your secrets and problems, and there's someone who will actually listen. You don't have to worry about your secret getting around school. I really love everyone here because they're like me in different ways. =] <3

I dunno, I've never really been able to actually feel a real connection or friendship with anyone over the internet. Maybe I don't spend enough time on it, but actual friends in the real world seem like they're... a million times better than anyone I can't meet. [/not really on blog topic]
