I’ve got no self-esteem

Actually, that was a lie. I do have self-esteem…I mean…

I’m an attractive young and nice woman. I have lots of friends who care about me and who I care about. When I go out I have always at least 5 guys watching me and some asking me out. I can’t complain at all. Yet sometimes I feel really low. Sometimes I feel like no one will ever like me. Sometimes I feel like the worst looking person on this planet. Sometimes I just want to hide in my bed and never come out again.

Others are different than me. Some people think of themselves in a very negative way. They think they are worth nothing. They think they’re not attractive, call themselves ugly. They think they have no one who cares about them. Wrong. We all have people who care about us. And we all are attractive in our very own way.

You don’t need to have a pretty face or body to be attractive. You don’t need to look like a model to be beautiful. We all have things about ourselves that make us gorgeous, unique, one of a kind, and most of all: lovable.

But it is completely normal to feel down sometimes. It’s normal to hate yourself sometimes. That’s human. It would be pretty arrogant to think that we’re the best, the prettiest, the coolest, the whatever. We might not always be on top, but we have something inside of us that many of those people who think they are perfect and no one can compare to them don’t have: a heart.

That heart is the most precious thing in us and it is worth a million and billion times more than a perfect look, a perfect outfit, or popularity. And you know what, we all have someone who admires us, maybe we just don’t notice.

Last but not least a tip for better self-esteem:
Get yourself a diary and write down every little compliment that you get, it doesn’t matter from whom, write everything down. You’ll be surprised how many compliments you get during a week. It doesn’t have to be big compliments, little remarks that put a smile on your face, that make your day a little brighter. At the beginning it might be difficult to see the compliments, but you’ll notice them soon (-;

And when the day comes where you are feeling really down, get the diary and sit on your bed. Turn on your favourite music that cheers you up and read the diary. You will realize how everything is much brighter than it seems just now.

And always remember: mistakes, or embarrassing situation happen to everyone. Don’t be afraid to do something wrong, or to seem like a fool. You are no fool, nothing about you is embarrassing. Laugh about it and don’t feel ashamed.

Hello self-esteem, I’m me and I’m happy to be me.
