21st Century Breakdown
Cheechoo has returned to the blog world with a review of Green Day's new album, 21st Century Breakdown. Before I tell you what I think here's the track listing:
1. Song of the Century
Act I : Heroes and Cons
2. 21st Century Breakdown
3. Know Your Enemy
4. ¡Viva la Gloria!
5. Before the Lobotomy
6. Christian's Inferno
7. Last Night on Earth
Act II : Charlatans and Saints
8. East Jesus Nowhere
9. Peacemaker
10. Last of the American Girls
11. Murder City
12. ¿Viva la Gloria? (Little Girl)
13. Restless Heart Syndrome
Act III : Horseshoes and Handgrenades
14. Horseshoes and Handgrenades
15. The Static Age
16. 21 Guns
17. American Eulogy
A: Mass Hysteria
B: Modern World
18. See the Light
The new album is very good. I really like it alot. It sounds like a mix of Nimrod, Warning, and American Idiot put together. Alot of the songs sound like they could have been on one of those 3 albums. For example, ¿Viva la Gloria? (Little Girl) sounds like it could have been on Warning, Horseshoes and Handgrenades sounds like it could have been on Nimrod, and Murder City sounds like it could have been on American Idiot. There are others but I'm not going to name them all.
This album in my opinion is better than American Idiot. I haven't decided whether or not I think it's better than Warning but it's close. I think they should keep going until they make a really shitty album and at the pace they're going that won't be for a while.
East Jesus Nowhere, Restless Heart Syndrome, ¿Viva la Gloria? (Little Girl), and 21st Century Breakdown are my favorite songs from it. I would say that East Jesus Nowhere and Restless Heart Syndrome could make the list of the all time best Green Day songs.
I don't think 2009 will see a better album than 21st Century Breakdown. Go buy it today!
Master Cheechoo gives 21st Century Breakdown 5 stars.

It can't be like American Idiot... Because it's not American Idiot.
Different times, different struggles, different changes. Different Green Day music.

I hate the new album.
It's very like American Idiot, as far as I'm concerned, I was expecting something new and refreshing and from what I've heard, it's just another whiney album.
My heart is still set on Dookie being their greatest work.

I think it's amazing.
The lyrics Billie Joe created just blow me away, he's so talented in writing lyrics, it's unbelievable. The songs are great, all of them. It WAS worth the five year wait.
I love it.

to be honest, i didn't like it that much. i was kind of excited, seeing as i used to be a huge green day fan, but i don't know, i guess i'm not really a fan of the new sound. i've only heard the 30 second sound clips on itunes and Know Your Enemy, which is too reptitive and noisy in my opinion, so maybe i should give it a real listen before i decide i don't like it, but meh.

This is the best album EVAH! Sorta. I like how they mixed the sounds to make it just completely all-out Green Day.
I've been listening to it for... since I got to my Daddy's house on Friday. Even in the bathtub.

I loooove this album. And I do agree, I already think it's better than American Idiot. My favourite songs from it are 21 Guns, Last Night On Earth, Before The Lobotomy and Restless Heart Syndrome.

I f-cking love their new album.
I used to think AI was always going to be my favourite, but I'm not quite sure anymore. Breakdown is far beyond everything I hoped it would be. It's bloody brilliant in my opinion. I cannot wait to hear it live this summer. Good blog. :) <3

It's my favorite Green Day album.<3
I just love the classic rock kind of sound that it has. It's like The Who, The Clash, Queen, The Beatles/John Lennon, and Bruce Springsteen put together. It's going to be incredible when played live, I can't wait to see them.

I'm not going to lie, I'm slightly disappointed with the new album.
It's alright. but I haven't given it enough time to listen to it from front to back. I simply get bored and turn it off. I'm hoping it'll grow on me, because I love this band so much. i like the songs i've heard, it's just not as good as i thought it would be.

this is deff my fave album ever. it really explains what our world has turned into. personally my fave song is Peacemaker. 21 Guns could also be on the alltime best gd songs list.
