James and I met on May 24, 2008 because we're both members of The Phantom's Opera, which is a forum dedicated to The Phantom of the Opera. We became friends fairly quickly, and soon discovered we had more in common than just our taste in musicals. After about three or four months, I realized that what I felt was more than friendship, and began a quest to show James how I felt. The clincher to the whole situation came in the middle of January, when James left his phone at school and had little to no access to a computer for two days straight. When he called on the third day, I was more than ready to yell at him, but I kept my cool and explained how I'd felt as though he had abandoned me. It was only then, after we'd hung up, that I realized I was madly in love with him. The catch? He lives in Hawaii, and I in California.

February 24, 2009 started out like a normal day. I went to school, to the dentist, and came home. However, if I'd known what was in store for me, I sure wouldn't have called it a "normal" day! That night, James and I were chatting on Yahoo Messenger (as is custom for us when we're not on the phone) and I asked if it was possible to miss someone you'd never met. He was unsure, but said he missed me, too. Then I got quite bold and confessed my feelings for him, mentioning that I'd noticed some changes in his behavior. It turned out he'd been harboring feelings for me, too! After that came some talk about whether we wanted to be in a relationship or not, because as he said, "Long-distance isn't for everyone." We have now been in a relationship for a little over a year, and are still madly in love.
