im a vegetarian i became one earlier this year i hated cruelty to animals and suddenly thought wait i hate cruelty to animals and ye i still eat meat so i stopped after i did that i found an awful viddeo on here that somweone had posted and i became really glad that id done it it was an awful, upsetting video and i couldnt watch it all the way through so although my nan may make comments and things like that about me not eating meat i know i made the right decision.
yeah i know im not saving animals lives but knowing jhow they were killed i cant play a part in that i never want animals to suffer and i couldnt eat meat now knowing how many of them are killed.

i've always wanted to try vegetarianism for awhile, but never got around to it. i don't mind people who are either, but i dislike it when they try to force it on me. i know someone who's a 'hardcore' vegan, and all he tried to do is 'convert' people. i mean, it's ok if he disagrees with us for eating meat, but he puts us down because of it.
and one time, i was working and giving out samples of chicken, and i ask everyone. this guy was like [in a snotty voice] "no thanks, i don't eat dead animals". it seriously scared me. i mean, i know it seems cruel, but i grew up with it and it is hard to just change. he said it as if he despised me [and i met him for like a second].
i just think it's a personal choice and it shouldn't be critisized nor should they critisize others.
I'm a vegan and i have been since i was born. It's a little hard because people will ask alot of questons about why you're a vegan and stuff. a lot of restaurants don't serve vegan food, too. Because of this i eat a lot of asian food because a lot of that is vegan. Also, I'm greek. Greek people tend to eat. A lot. (if you haven't seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding yet, see it. That's basically how my family is.) Greek food has a lot of cheese and meat in it, so my family is constantly trying to get me to stop being a vegan. My dad is vegan, too, though. That's why i'm a vegan.
I'm vegetarian because I feel bad about eating a animal. My friends support me on this..,but others sometimes sneak meat into my food and I get sick because my not use to the taste anymore.I don't understand why people just don't leave me alone.

I'm sorry, that's impossible. You should at most be dead, at least have all your bones broken. Even in the latter circumstance, you must have been breastfed till about the age of six. Besides the obvious arguement that your mother is an animal too, in order to provide you with a sufficient source of important vitamins in breast milk like vitamin B12, your mother must have eaten meat. Otherwise right now you are seriously anaemic and have extensive neurological damage and I recommend going to a hospital immedeately.
In my own mind I think people who stop eating meat because its cruel to animals.
Well they arn't saving any animals at all really.
Same with planes.
'Don't fly planes it killsm polar bears!'
well you arn't going to stop the plane from flying are you?
And if your a vegitarian then your not going to save any animals in your act to 'stop' slaughter to animals if you just stop eating meat.
Well it's supply and demand, isn't it? Say there are 1 million vegetarians in the UK, that's 1 million people who don't eat meat. And farmers aren't going to kill animals that won't get eaten, because there's no point. They'll be losing money, and it's not worth it.
So it does make a difference. You won't see it, because you don't take note of meat production and statistics, which is fair enough, but it does make a difference.

I also read somewhere that baby vegan formulas aren't even in circulation in the US and UK.

yeah but, the demand for meat is price inelastic, so they may be forced to charge a higher price for their meat, but people aren't not gunna buy a steak because its an extra 10-20p, because they like steak. So farmers revenues might increase.

What I'm saying is, is that less animals will be killed, because they won't kill animals that won't get eaten because it'll sit unsold in the shops, and the shops might not buy any more from them.
The main point is the fact that less people eating meat = less meat put on the shelves, because Orangelike.darkness said it doesn't make a difference.

i've been a veggie two years about. it's my own personal descision i don't go around trying to force people not to eat meat, that's why i HATE peta. i do it personally for health reasons and i have a sensitive spot for the noble animals and that sort of hippie stuff. i just can't stand the PETArds that give the nice passive vegitarians/vegans a bad name.
add: and all the people (mostly friend's parents) that for some reason try to sway me from my choice by practically harassing me with obvisous facts and stupid questions just because it's apparently so hard to make something i can eat. i'm starting to think about carrying a box of kraft macaroni on my person at all times so i can chuck it at whatever dumbass thinks they have to make some anti hippie comment or whatever in order to have me eat something other than salad at their poorly planed bbq ><;.

That happens with me too, I actually feel really embarased whenever I go to someone's house and I eat a meal there, because I just feel like I'm putting extra pressure on them or something. I'ts just really awkward, and sometimes I wish I wasn't a vegetarian

it can be awkward but i got over that. once they get over the fact and don't gawk at the fact you don't eat meat it's fine. i don't mind if they ask me questions of how i eat at home or what vitamins i take it's just when they're being stupid like "you know your not making a difference in the countries meat intake" or "i know that your way of eating is 'unhealthy' so i'm going to egg you on to eat a hot dog". in those cases i just figure that it's their problem for being very, very ignorant and i feel happy for myself and my parents are proud of me for having the will power to do it so i'm not the one with a problem.

I had this sudden urge to become vegetarian breifly today. Really brief though, like a nanosecond and then I thought I was becoming delirious, I might have been. Such thoughts are completely foreign to me.
Anyway, I was cooking sausages for todays breakfast because we ran out of eggs and I couldn't make my usual crepes. Now whenever I cook meat, I over cook it slightly. This is an irrational fear I have always had since I was eight, I was terrified of people getting sick from meals that I cooked so I made sure all the germs would be dead. But today I let my guard off and when I stuck my fork into the sausage and pulled it out, blood came out. It was gushing and gushing everywhere and it poured over my plate and onto my hands. I blinked and it was all gone. I must have imagined it so I recooked and then the blood went away. It was almost a hallucination though I mean it was quite vivid. But I shook it off and for supper I cooked a well done, fish.

Thats actually what made it semi-easy for me to stop eating meat; I sucked at cooking it correctly to being with. I was afraid I'd kill myself with some weird bacteria so the only time I ever ate it was when my parents cooked it.
