 | September 16th, 2007 at 07:28am Hun, turn your caps off.
I don't really understand vegans... Can someone explain where they're coming from to me? I'm not trying to start something, I'd just much rather hear it from someone, not reading some big fancy thing... |

It's like vegetarianism, there's several different reasons. Those are the ones I'm aware of, but everyone has their reasons.
Ah... I figured it had to do with the hormones and steroids and whatnot. |

That's the most common reason I've heard, the second most being that some people just don't think humans have the right to use milk, eggs, honey, wool, etc..., Yeah, I've heard it all.
I go both ways on that. I don't eat meat, wear leather/wool/etc. I don't eat eggs like... plain, but I drink milk and eat things made with milk/eggs. It's weird. |

Not to mention vanilla soy milk is THE single most orgasmic drink in the world. |

 | September 16th, 2007 at 08:52am Can You Say OBSESSED:I don't have a problem with wool, I've heard that it can be bad to let sheep's wool grow too much, but I don't remember where I've heard it, so I don't know how credible it is. But as long as the sheep are properly sheered I don't see the problem with it. But I'm hugely anti-fur and leather.
I don't really have a problem with dairy, either. I try to only eat local dairy, though, 'cause most of it's organic and/or free range. I once saw a sheep get sheered and it was terribly done. I'm not a big fan of wool. |

Meat is murder. Eggs and milk are prolonged sadistic murder. Even without paying attention to all the things that happen to animals on egg and milk production plants, the outcome is the same - they get slaughtered for low-quality meat at a very young age (for example cows get killed at about the age of 5, while their actual life span is 20-25 years). Not to mention that all male chickens in the egg production industry get killed right after being born, and the male babies of the milk-producing cows become veal.
Animals are exploited for milk and eggs and all they get in return is pain, despair and an early death. Vegans are just people who think we don't have a right to do that. |

Y'know, we could probably understand where you were coming from had you not decided to put that childish remark in.

Age: 36 Gender: Female Posts: 5761 | September 18th, 2007 at 06:46pm I'm totally against animal cruelty and the like... But it's not the main reason as to why I've been weaning myself down to becoming a vegetarian.
Meat just makes me feel sick. The thought DISGUSTS me. The thought of eating a dead, previously adorable, previously warm blooded, creature... sickens me. And I just can't stand the taste. The thought makes me sick to my stomach.
Another reason I probably hate meat is that I also hate blood. When someone is bleeding.. or there's blood around I can smell it. BLECH! It's icky. I hate the thought of blood.. I hate the taste of blood.. I hate the smell of blood.
I guess I'm just not meant to eat meat.
BTW Jimmy John's has THE best vegetarian sub EVER. |

Yeah, I'm going to wait until I move out...
Oh, and I went to a huge party the other weekend and I saw a shirt that made me laugh.
On the front:
"P.E. T. A. People Eating Tasty Animals"
and the back said:
"Vegetarian: Ancient slang for the village idiot who can't hunt."
 I found it funny... |
