oooh I wonder what my friend will say about PETA after she reads this
tbh I think she became vegan from PETAs propaganda bullshit. honestly, I told her about some guy that beat up a puppy.. beat its head with a rock multiple times, punched it, it got so beaten up, the family tht owned the puppy had to put it down. she was just 'oh, ...aww.' if I told that to someone that actually cared about animals, they'd be really disappointed/angry/sad, don't you think?

I like it
Why thank you
no prob bb
okay
if my friend doesn't believe that, what should I do?
I've looked up pages on why PETA can go suck a dick, but none that great... I found an article about how PETA wanted to pay Fishkill, and Hamburg, NY 15,000 dollars to change their name because it promotes killing. I even told my friend this, she says, 'well, it does!' ugh.
the 'kill' in fishkill is actually dutch for stream.

I cited my sources within the article, you could show her those?
Honestly, you probably won't change her mind. :/ it seems some PETA supporters think PETA is this angelic organization that can do no wrong, and they won't believe anything else.

They did say they'd offered to supply area schools with $15,000 worth of animal-free veggie burgers in exchange for the name change .. which I think is more of an advertising/promotional thing than just wasting money. But still, I'm shocked.

I thought it said they offered 15,000 dollars or 15 000 veggie burgers. either way, that's a crappy deal.

This is my number one problem with PETA. They take donations people gave them with the intent that it would go to saving animals, and goes to promotional things like that. How exactly is Hamburg changing its name going to help animals in any way? It won't, but rest assured it will get PETA on the news, an organization that already has all the fame it needs to help save animals, if that's actually what they wanted to accomplish. Seeing as how they rarely do, I'd say they have a completely different agenda.

Hmm, well I suppose PR can make a difference, even if they are not actually saving animals 'on the ground'. Like Dita's campaign for Animal Birth Control, just publicising the fact that vegetarianism is good, and getting people thinking. Though, I agree that its definitely not the best way to use the money people have donated.
