In the interest of a balanced argument, here's the rest of it: Quote 1. The systematic propagation of a doctrine or cause or of information reflecting the views and interests of those advocating such a doctrine or cause. 2. Material disseminated by the advocates or opponents of a doctrine or cause: wartime propaganda. 3. Propaganda Roman Catholic Church. A division of the Roman Curia that has authority in the matter of preaching the gospel, of establishing the Church in non-Christian countries, and of administering Church missions in territories where there is no properly organized hierarchy. Propaganda is NOT just advertisement, and all advertisement is not propaganda. Propaganda is single-sided promotion, showing only the good or only the bad sides of an issue, cause, or product. Actually, that's called campaigning. All politicians do it. Part is propaganda, but the rest is a lot of promises and political viewpoints. You don't live in the States, you don't vote here. British newspapers promoted the idea that the Britsh were winning for example and made them out to be heroes. Dunkirk for example was a great loss for British troops, but propaganda raised morale in Britain by saying they were great for escaping. If morale is not high, you lose the war. Propaganda is effective in wartime. PanicOfBeliever: An example of where propaganda may be seen as "Bad" use is where Hitler sent out movies depicting how Germans were the master race. Valid point. Propaganda is an important part of a totalitarian dictatorship. PanicOfBeliever: Propaganda is every piece of media you have ever read, hell even word of mouth in Proaganda. Its everywhere, be intelligent and make up your own ind after reviewing what you hear. Every piece of media is not propaganda. The media is certainly biased, but to call it propaganda is simply untrue. Word of mouth is not propaganda. A balanced argument or well-researched opinion is not propaganda. It's valid information, and a valid way of spreading it. Refusing to acknowledge that there are two sides to every issue is propaganda.

Then they pull some strings in the White House and Downing Street and try to make us believe that we didn't go to war with Iraq to secure its soap deposits... Even I have no idea what i'm talking about anymore. Propaganda's no joke, folks. Watch your back, don't let 'em tell you what to think. (This ends my pitiful attempt at a meaningful post.)
