In the interest of a balanced argument, here's the rest of it: Quote Propaganda is NOT just advertisement, and all advertisement is not propaganda. Propaganda is single-sided promotion, showing only the good or only the bad sides of an issue, cause, or product. PanicOfBeliever: Actually, that's called campaigning. All politicians do it. Part is propaganda, but the rest is a lot of promises and political viewpoints. You don't live in the States, you don't vote here. Don't pretend you've watched these elections enough to know how they really work. PanicOfBeliever: If morale is not high, you lose the war. Propaganda is effective in wartime. PanicOfBeliever: Valid point. Propaganda is an important part of a totalitarian dictatorship. PanicOfBeliever: Every piece of media is not propaganda. The media is certainly biased, but to call it propaganda is simply untrue. Word of mouth is not propaganda. A balanced argument or well-researched opinion is not propaganda. It's valid information, and a valid way of spreading it. Refusing to acknowledge that there are two sides to every issue is propaganda. |

dirtyhippie Geek ![]() Age: 35 Gender: Male Posts: 466 | I mean, come on, Meg, everyone knows that the wachine-powder companies have formed a secret cabal for the express purpose of fooling us all into buying their subpar soap, while they keep the real washing powder advances under wraps. Then they pull some strings in the White House and Downing Street and try to make us believe that we didn't go to war with Iraq to secure its soap deposits... Even I have no idea what i'm talking about anymore. Propaganda's no joke, folks. Watch your back, don't let 'em tell you what to think. (This ends my pitiful attempt at a meaningful post.) |
