I don't think we should be able to smoke in public places, like restaurants and bars.
I think smoking outside is all right.

When I was younger, I used to find where my parent's hid the carton of cigarettes and I'd throw them out. It wouldn't don on them that I've tried to tell them to stop. They just still buy more.
My mom and dad were younger than me when they started smoking. T_T

I hate the smell of cigarette smoke. Makes me think of creepy middle-aged men sitting in a sleazy bar drinking in the middle of the day Neutral
A lot of teenagers who start smoking despite being perfectly aware of the dangers are just idiots.
Having said that, I can sympathise how difficult it is to quit.
spill_no_sick:
P.S. I don't planning on ever being sixty, so smoking shouldn't do shit to me.
That seems like such an awful thing to say. Not a personal critisism - I just wonder how the hell you can decide those things in advance...

they aren't idiots
it's hard not to with the government making everyone want to
from sometime in the 1980s to 2004 the U.S. government spent half a trillion dollars on anti-smoking propaganda
you know where that got us?
the number one cause of teens smoking is?
the propaganda
realizing how bad you've been lied to is the main thing that makes teens want to smoke
I only know one kid who does anything like that because he thinks it's cool, and he's going to get shot way before he gets cancer

and I don't even plan on making it to thirty, so I don't think sixty would be very likely
oh yeah, I don't smoke, but if I did, wouldn't do much harm

My Opinion is that before there were known health risks everyone was too naive to know.
BUT if someone knows the risks and smokes then gets caner or something, IT'S THEIR OWN DAMN FAULT

No, lighters come important in other circumstances. Throw away your money. You are already doing so, anyway.

Then use matches for other things.
It was just very very good advice.

Well smoking is not as dangerous as doing drugs, but you shouldn't smoke if you care for your health and look. All you will accomplish by smoking is get your teeth yellow, your breath and clothes smell awfully and do serious damage to your lungs. And if you stop smoking you won't gain weight, that's a fact; and you won't either lose weight by doing it.

Shoulnd't it be up to the owner of the public place if they wish to allow smoking? I mean, if you didn't like smoke, it isnt like you have to eat at that resrurant, and you don't have to go to that bar. It's your choice. Places where people have to go like doctors offices or court buildings shouldn't allow smoking I don't think, because then in that case it isn't your choice to go there.

But what about people, who work there (restaurants) ? They might need this job and now they have to accept the smoking.

My friends and I were discussing whether or not people with cancer sould recieve compensation from tabacco companies because of their products. Most of those with lung cancer now started smoking at a time when tabacco companies didn't put warnings on their cigerette packs, but I still think it is the fault of the individuals.

I think it's really stupid to smoke. I mean, there are cooler ways to die. But I guess they think "....Hmmm....why not make life shorter by using this nifty cancer stick..?" I know that it's hard to stop for them, but if they really wanted to stop they'd go all out and try really hard.

i think it's stupid to sue them for causing cancer. it's clearly labeled that it causes cancer so if you're gonna smoke it you better take the consequences. I.E. cancer!

When my friends turned 18 they bought cigarettes right away. I'm so mad at them because they are killing themselves. Once we were all going out and they wanted to buy cigars to try. So they did. My one friend was driving and she is a really bad driver, but with her trying to smoke her cigar and drive at the sametime mad her a worse driver. The smoke was bothering me too. It smelt so bad. Then we get to the restaurant and they wanted to sit in the smoking section. So, I had to endure more smoke. It was so annoying! I wish they'd quit. Next time we go out I'm driving myself. And I'll just try not to breathe in the restaurant.

They only people I believe ever had the right to sue the tobacco companies were the people who started smoking when the government said there was nothing unhealthy with cigarettes.

By the time they knew, they were addicted and the damage had already been done.

I also agree with banning smoking in public places. It's like pissing in a swimming pool. Nobody wants to swim in piss and no non-smoker wants to get cancer from your second-hand smoke.

it's not pissing in a swimming pool
it's like pissing in the ocean

second hand smoke is no where close to as potent as you're told
and you, of all people, should be the one to scream and stick a middle finger in the face of propagnada

my mom lived with a man who smoked eight packs a day (and he was healthy until Vietnam R.I.P.) and she has no problems
she has every other health problem in the world, but nothing respitory or heart related

it's bullshit
and I hate all forms of propaganda because of the evil they posess

So, if the government were the ones not putting the information out, how are the tobacco companies the ones to sue? They weren't breaking any laws at the time. And they weren't forcing people to smoke, it was still their choice.
