He played me Basket Case when i was 8 ('96) and I loved them from then. He died in 2002, so Warning was the last he heard. He left all his albums to me, and now every time I listen to American Idiot, I think about how much he would have loved it. |

Athy Shoot Me, I'm A Newbie
Age: - Gender: - Posts: 53 | May 29th, 2006 at 05:40pm Ah...I wrote a really long blog entry on this very subject when Green Day was freshly planted in my mind.
I sum up: I had heard a couple GD songs (though I didn't know they were GD) and liked them, and had heard about this whole "American Idiot" political album blah blah blah, and was deeply uninterested, being the good conservative girl I am. I saw them play on New Year's Eve (just one song, I was channel surfing) and was like "oh, well, I suppose those guys are pretty cool." Then I had The Dream. To be very brief, it involved Billie Joe randomly showing up in my living room, me inviting him to come eat with my family, and the two of us getting engaged and planning to be married in Germany. This was all when he was just 'that guy with the eyeliner who's sorta hot'. Then I was in Driver's Ed and heard BoBD on the radio every single morning, and started watching Fuse and saw the Holiday vid every evening. I decided I needed to get this CD.
So I bought. And I listened. And then I didn't stop listening except to sleep for about a week. And then I compulsively started taping and buying anything vaguely related to GD. |
