 | December 29th, 2006 at 02:40am I like to pray. Not because I think I'm praying to God, who I'm not even sure of. I just really like to think it works and makes me feel better to say what I need to. |

Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 626 | February 19th, 2007 at 06:39am I pray to God. But not just asking him for things. I thank him for things. And just talk to him in general. I know he is looking out for me and loves me, and it feels good to pray to him.
It's not a question of if it works or not, but why you are praying. For if you want those shoes as some one said in an example, or because you love God and want to talk to him. |

 | February 21st, 2007 at 02:05pm I don't really understand prayer at all.
It's like a lopsided conversation.
I'd rather at least reply to myself. |

 | February 21st, 2007 at 02:15pm Well, you ask if praying to God works. I would say no. You have to make it happen if you want it to happen.
You can ask this God and you can go to church and ask for forgiveness if that makes you feel better, because personally, i do believe in God, just a little bit. I'd usually say "No, i do not believe in God" but i do. Just a little bit. I think its more like.. a convinience for me. I was at church around Christmas with school and afterwards, we got off, so two friends of mine and myself stayed at the church and prayed. That made me feel better, to come to "the house of god" and like, i dont know, get what you need off your chest, because it did help for me. It made me feel relieved. But i wouldnt consider myself religious, as i only go to church once a year and thats with school and only because its a thing we always do and always have done on the last day of school that year.
If praying for something works? No, not in my opinion. But there are different ways of praying. If it works for you, then it works for you.
I just blabbered again. Sorry. |

Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 1308 | February 25th, 2007 at 03:15pm A lot of the time, people pray simply for support, guidance, forgiveness, etc.
In this case, I believe praying helps because there doesn't actually have to be anyone 'up there' in order for you to feel better about yourself.
Of course that doesn't count if you're praying for a quad bike or something... |

 | February 25th, 2007 at 08:18pm Well, in an old testement, it says all women should pray with their head covered, otherwise it's useless and if they do pray without head covered, all their hair should be shaved off.
So, praying in modern times like today, all praying is useless anyways I guess. (I mean, you never see women covering up their hair in most churches?)
I'm glad i'm not religious. |

 | March 1st, 2007 at 01:08am Well in my opinion, it does.
Recently, my grandmother just passed away and I've been praying for her every night.
I see visions of her and I think that when I pray, that happens.
I think my praying helps me realize that she comes to me to let me know that she's ok in Heaven.. |

 | March 4th, 2007 at 08:47am i believe in the power of will, if you want something strong enough you will get it, or if you really need it. though not always. i myself dont pray buti believe that prayers might work. Though ifgod would exist, i bet he'd be wize enough to but out on our lives. there is this one phrase that i really like, its actually from a witchcraft book i have(but dont use), it says : you will get what you need, but most likely not what you want. so if you want a million dollars, you wont get that money, you will most likely recieve your pay check early. although i do believe in luck. |

Yeah, that's true, people do say it doesn't work just because they don't get what they want sometimes. Praying is all about trusting God and putting your faith in Him to answer your prayers, and it's putting your problems in His hands and trusting Him to work it out according to His will, and so if He decides to do something other than what you planned on, then either way that's His will, and people should probably take that into consideration before they pray and complain. |
