I was watching Vh1 yesterday, and some assholes vandalized the graves of the dead members of Lynyrd Skynrd.[sp?] They actually pulled the lead singer's coffin out of the tomb and dumped it onto the ground, and ripped open the bag containing another member's ashes, which spilled everywhere.
It was appalling.

Cemeteries scare the hell out of me, I don't like having dead people below me.. although I suppose it's better than having them hanging above me. I use to have horrible nightmares about graveyards when I was 8 and I wouldn't sleep for a week straight, it sucked.
So, I'd be perfectly ok with everyone being cremated and we never had cemeteries, but even though I don't like them that doesn't make it ok for people to damage them and vandalize them.

I like cemetaries, it just seems so peaceful. Do you ever get a sence of finality there? Or like everything's in it's place? idk how to explain it, but they're just so peaceful there.

I don't "enjoy" cemeteries. But I do find them very peaceful and calming when I go to one. It sort of creeps me out to know that 6 feet under me is a corpse. But I understand what you're saying Coff.
As to the thread subject, I find it horrible disgusting and atrocious. To me, when a person desecrates a grave site, it only shows how pathetic and boring their lives must be to seek out such an abominable act of vandalism.
A few weeks ago, I was reading in my local paper about these 2 or 3 teenage boys that had seen a young woman's obituary picture in the paper, and they decided to dig her up a few days later to have sex with her corpse. I think they were caught in the act and one of them was put on probation and the others were fined. That article made me want to find those boys and give them a piece of my mind. I mean, how horrible is it to know that by just putting a picture in the obituaries that you could potentially be sought out by a necrophiliac after you die?!
