 | May 31st, 2006 at 05:30pm London Calling - The Clash is not only one of those great punk albums, its one of the greatest rock records of all time. Everyone should own it. Fantastic songs from start to finish, not one bad one on there in my opinion.
Also:
Never Mind The Bollocks - The Sex Pistols
Horses - Patti Smith
Bad Brains - Bad Brains
The Ramones - The Ramones
Punk In Drublic - NoFX
Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables - Dead Kennedys
And even though they're not completely 'punk', I think these should be listed:
Who's Next - The Who
All Mod Cons - The Jam
Sound Affects - The Jam
New York Dolls - New York Dolls
Dookie - Green Day |

Age: - Gender: - Posts: 53 | May 31st, 2006 at 10:25pm Rocket To Russia (1977) - The Ramones (this album represents the first pop/bubble gum punk)
Nevermind The Bollocks (1977) - Sex Pistols (the 77 oi! is represented by this album)
The Clash (1977) [UK version over US version] - The Clash (representing the slightly new waves, yet still hard British punk)
Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables (1980) - Dead Kennedys, I Against I (1986) - Bad Brains (both representing the metal punk scene, also the "non sellout", underground punk of the 80's)
Mommy's Little Monster (1983) - Social Distortion (representing the California punkabilly)
Out Of Step (1983) - Minor Threat (starting the hardcore straightedge scene)
My War (1984) - Black Flag (representing the hardcore and DIY punk ethics)
City Baby Attacked By Rats - Charged GBH (representing the rise of UK82)
Die For The Government (1996) - Anti-Flag (representing the policital hardcore new punk)
For The Punx (1997) - The Casualties (representing the new 'punk and proud' hardcore punk)
and while The Who were a classic hard rock band, I personally believe that they laid the foundation for punk rock, with My Generation (1965). and the garage rock band The Kinks influenced a lot of the soon to be punk with the 1964 release of The Kinks, released in the US as You Really Got Me. |

Actually, its become like a trend on here over the past 6 months or so to say that Green Day are not punk, as if they are trying to prove that they are not a teenie or something like that. |

A year ago people were still saying Green Day aren't punk. And why? because they don't wnat to seem like teenies? No. Because Green Day AREN'T punk. It doesn't even matter though. |
